The Gap has been open since the 1970s. They used to just have jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts. They all said The Gap on them. The walls were lined with shelving so you could find your style and size of jeans. What I remember most was the walls of jeans, and they had a very 70s look logo. (Yes, I am old.)

I think novice meant the gap only opened in Europe in the 90s.

The Gap is the Gap....jeans, khaki's, t-shirts, etc. They shouldn't try to be anything else.

Oh! It was fine in the 80s when we were all tiny & slim but now they just make me look enormous.

Yes, thanks Sput, that is exactly what I meant. When Gap opened stores in Europe in cities other than capitals.

I love Gap Kids, but don't shop at the regular Gap anymore for myself. Their material quality went downhill, almost everything in there is some sort of synthetic blend. Also the cuts are no good. They cut in stacks, so you can try on 5 of the exact same T and they will all fit differently. Their clothes tend to be boxy also. But, Gap Kids is great & the sale prices are amazing. Maybe Gap should focus on making things in smaller batches, with better quality, instead of large batches of crappy quality and having to sell it all off on sale.

I really like Gap's jeans and classic cotton V-necks. I also love their baby/kids clothes. But I agree the quality of their adult clothes has gone down tremendously while prices have skyrocketed, even since the late 90s/early 2000s when I used to shop there in high school.
