I really like this brown dress:

These clothes wouldn't look so good on real 'plus size' women, they're too loose and unstructured. I like that these models are healthy looking and normal, but this show is the exception not the rule, and it's more of a gimmick than anything.

I definitely can't picture a woman Gabby's size in some of those dresses. Sorry.

The only outfit I like is Tocara's and there is no way a real plus-size could pull that one off. Fail.

^ Not sure. But you made me curious so I pulled out my size grade book:

In plus sizes a womens' 26W- which is the biggest listed in my book- is 58" at the bust, 44.5" at the waist, 56" at the high hip and 64" at the low hip. Sidibe's around that I'd guess. It's hard to really judge from pics though.

Thanks. By the way, didn't there used to be a clothing chain called either "12-plus" or "20-plus"? I'm trying to remember -- we used to have it in a mall really close by.

^ I don't know that chain, but I'm sure there was something like it.

If retailers were smarter there would be more plus size shops. More American women wear over a 14 than under, about 65%.

Plus sizes go up to a 32W in several stores like Catherine's, Avenue, and Fashion Bug Plus. You can find select items at lane bryant's website, and Torrid only goes up to a 28W.
Some catalogs and websites that cater to large size women may go up to a 40W.

I believe that Gabby is a 24/26W and Nicki is 20W.

Tocara looks gorgeous - but happened to her bust???

AND - that light blue dress on Emme - not flattering at all!!!

Yeah they're not plus-sized chicks, but nothing about the "fashion world" is about reality.

It was "16 Plus", they went out of business long ago. All of their clothing looked like something an old woman winterbirding in Florida would wear.

Re: Torrid, their sizing is so very off, imo. I generally wear an 18 and have to buy 22 or 24 there. I like their clothes, they just tend to be expensive.

^^Torrid like lane Bryant are a bit expensive, but their clothes last a very long time and aren't cheaply made like Ashley Stewart or even Fashion Bug.

I have a Torrid shirt on today that's about 5 years old, so they're definitely worth the expense. I tend to shop at Avenue, as they send me lots of coupons. LOL
