Early in my career, a women came in for an interview wearing a black leather mini skirt with a black leather tube top and matching jacket. No flip flops but she had on 4 inch black pumps. In her mind this was a business suit and was appropriate. I conducted the entire interview as I would for anyone else. When I called to let her know I has selected another candidate I explained the person I selected was better educated, had more experience and has a stronger professional presence. She asked what that meant so I was honest and suggested she review her business attire.

Well, you were honest. I cannot believe she thought that was the right thing to wear to an interview.

I don't understand how so many people can't comprehend what is appropriate business wear. Did all these people grow up feral?

^^IKR. Have they never watched TV shows and seen how people dress in an office?

LOL, I wore jeans in today, but only because the two captains were out of the office. Tomorrow I'll don my khakis again. Jeans day is Friday for us civilians. The military personnel did do casual Fridays, but too many torn jeans, capris and sandals ruined it for everyone.

Exactly. It's amazing what people will wear to an interview. Spandex Kelly Kapowski dresses paired with plastic see-through heels are never appropriate interview attire!!! I wore a pin-striped navy blue suit to pick up applications in the mall when I was 15 - LOL. My friends made fun of me, but even then proper business attire made sense.

You cannot dress too conservatively for a job interview (well, Venus' dress might be a bit much), but business conservative is always a must for any interview, no matter what the job. It shows you're taking the interviewers time seriously and respect the opportunity.

It fits in so many scenarios...now if we would ever get that picture, it might not be necessary to show up in every thread!

I just meant I hope I'm not the only germaphobe in hotels (not necessarily that you have to wear flip flops in hotel bathrooms like me!). We went to an Embassy Suites a few months ago. The place looked really nice. I always make my kids wear socks or shoes in hotel rooms and I realized why. After about an hour, the bottom of my daughter's new socks were dark gray. I nearly gagged. Thankfully we were checking out an hour later anyway.

I wish we could wear things like flip flops and even capri's. Our dress code is so strict and rigid, no fun at all. It's even being dictated what color our undershirts are supposed to be.
