I think my dentist may hate flip flops. I had them on during my last check-up and she told me she really liked them.......and that by the way, there's a chemical in them that can cause cancer. Good grief.

Now I love flip flops but the last place they need to be worn at is a place of work.

I'm wearing them right now but the boss is away and I brought nicer shoes just in case anyone shows up, these are the pair I keep around for sentimental value, they mean something to me even though they're getting kinda decrepit

The rubber ones. Good for the beach, but if you live in a city they look like two dirty makeup sponges tied to your feet.

Maybe it's just me, but when I was a kid, about 95% of all flip flops looked like this:

At least, the ones that grown-ups wore.

I have nothing against them if they're in the right environment. But I'm partial to the ones with the strap across the foot as opposed to the "between-the-toes" thong.

And for fucks' sakes, if you do wear them DON'T do this:

Men are the worst offenders. But probably because they take so much shit about the look of their feet!

Me too. I live in my Slim Crystals (various colours). I know not everyone can wear thongs but they are THE most comfortable shoe for me. So long as you look after your feet and get a pedicure I see no reason why thongs should be 'unacceptable' at work. Personally, I think scuzzy runners/trainers with nasty sports socks look X100 worse.

You'd be surprised how many people I've seen use public showers without them. I forgot mine once, and wore my sneakers into the shower. They got soaked, but I felt much safer...the Bally's I belong to has allowed some indigents to join, and they use the showers, and they are some trifling, nasty fellas. I would not go in the showers after them without my flip-flops. Every few weeks, I wash my flip-flops in a hot water/bleach/soap solution, and spray them with disinfectant. I think I'm overdue for a cleaning. I just got a new pair in June.

I don't even think about wearing flip flops in hotel showers! Of course if the showers were public, that would go without saying. But my own private room? I do admit to taking and using antibacterial wipes when I'm staying somewhere. Maybe I should be wiping down the tub too?

flip flops and tennis shoes are against the rules at my job. As are sleeveless tops, tshirts, jeans (except on Fridays), anything with a cutout... things that people should know better than to wear to a job any way.

It's unbelievable to me that someone can look in their closet deciding what to wear and come up with torn and cutout clothing and think "yup, that's good for work today."
