I love it! I've always wanted to purchase one, but never felt the weather would ever allow me to wear it (Texas is hot 90% of the year).. I think it's chic.. with jeans and riding boots or the right, fitted dress... so pretty. Where did you get it?

ITA. It is a very classic piece. I've been trying to work up the courage to purchase one for myself since I moved to a colder climate several years ago. I used to live in warm weather, so it wasn't functional before.

Adelaide. Where the height of fashion is jeans and a fluoro t-shirt.

Sweetie - ahem. It's black. And I wear pants. Therefore, I'd at least be Batman or something.

Okay. I wore it to mum's birthday party last night. It seemed to get a positive reaction, but then most of her friends are from Sydney. My boyfriend saw it, looked confused, then just shrugged and said "Prep" (lately he's decided that I'm preppy... even though I went to a public school and the preppy subculture doesn't really exist in Australia anyway!). I'm going to be spending most of this week like a hermit at home finishing term papers, but next time I will leave I will not only wear the cape in public and on public transport, I will wear it to uni. In front of the judgemental eyes of my film school peers. Wish me luck. Despite being a generally (over)confident person, I am 20 and thus prone to moments of crippling self-consciousness.

Then again, even just my white blazer with navy lapels seems to get a reaction from people, so what the hell? It is bloody awesome. Maybe I'll wear a beret with it, just for you, Grimm.

Anyway, I think it was definitely a cool buy. Ignore the fashion dodgers in your town and go shimmy around!

It's a good buy so you should wear it. There's a home sales company called CAbi that had the cutest coat/cape in a gorgeous green color last Fall. I wanted that thing so bad but apparently if you have large tatas it doesn't look so good.

May I join the chorus of WEAR IT LOVE IT!

People that stare are just jealous that they don't have the cojones to wear something that dramatic and awesome.

Dude, wear it with pride. Looks awesome.

I too live in a backward zone, but fuck it - I wear what I want to wear for work. What I wear is not particularly outrageous... I just happen to be the only female solicitor in a tailored suit with high heels and bright red lippie for quite a few kms around (and consequently get a few raised eyebrows)

    Bugger 'em!

if you have dark eyes as well, then wear dark grey/blue/black tights next time. i swear you'll look even better! (i've got a pale complexion myself and really dark brown hair & eyes.)
when you wear a dark colour on the upper half of your body, you've got to match it with a colour of similar intensity on the lower half. the same 'rule' applies to light colours. like, for example, pair a light blue shirt with a grey skirt.

if you do not have dark eyes, ignore what i just said.

I think it's cute. I've actually wanted to buy one for the past couple years, but haven't made the leap. i live in a little town that is behind in the fashion dept. too. I became friends with one of the newer doctors at the hospital where i work and she wears a cape quite often in the winter. She wears hers with everything, but i think it looks cutest when she wears it with a little black and white jumper dress & tights or slim fitting pants.

Happy trails to you...until we meet again.
I love & miss you Dad.
