I'm rather a minimalist with regard to what I haul around. I like a bag to be as small as possible. Some of the contents lists here make my shoulder ache just reading them!

Nice. I used to avoid tan bags like the plague but now realise what classics they are. I have a lovely tan croc one.

It's plainer than I normally would buy , but I can wear it all year long because it's not too light for fall/winter or too dark for spring/summer.

actually it's more like 6-7 years old, now that i think about it. it's a black paddington tote, one year they brought out a version that had all black hardware and stitching instead of the gold locks and white contrast stitching they usually had. i don't wear the lock on it because it weighs a fuckton and it's uncomfortable but it's my workhorse bag for work, it fits everything.
i also have a small black betty, also about the same age, which is still one of my favourite bags ever and it's the softest, most supple leather you've ever felt. looks like this:

I have a great little Tula bag a bit like this ^^^^^. I call it my Tardis bag because although it's quite small I can fit all my junk in it.

Tan is a great neutral, goes with so much.

Yep. The Betty is small but fat/deep so it fits a tonne of stuff.

I feel so inadequate. The contents of my handbag without my sunglasses comes to around 50, and that's including the bag. Add in my prescription sunnies and it goes up to maybe 200. I cannot wait until I'm no longer a poor student!

LOL Kari - I doubt that mine has 2k in it.
And I'm a handbag whore too! I buy a lot of my bags from a leather manufacture in london, they are fairly classic styled with a nod to fashion styles (eg I have a hermes style one), great quality, and I'm not paying an arm & a leg for them since I just don't buy into that whole brand game.
