Americans--Do we have big feet?

i'm 5'7" and i wear an 8. i think it's just luck of the genetic draw.

I'm 1.69m (about 5'6'' I think) and wear a European 40. My biggest problem is not finding shoes that fit, as it's a fairly common size, but boots are a nightmare, since shoemakers insist on increasing the calf circumferance with shoe size, and the tops of the boots are always MASSIVE on me. They make boots with a larger fit fit, why can't they make narrower ones as well?

there are places where you can get narrow calf boots because i have this exact same problem. nordstrom has a search so that you can get that grouping and duoboots.com lets you specify the circumference.

I have one good friend who is 5' and wears a size 2 shoe! She has a hard time finding grown up shoes.

Ooh, thanks for the tip. I'm not sure about buying shoes online, but I might try it at some point-shopping is just too frustrating.
