AntiqueDress.com - Museum items for Sale
Someone on another board directed me to this vintage (from the 1750's on!) clothing site.
I'm spending wayyy too much time here. I can't afford a single thing and a lot of it has been sold but I love the hosts writing!
Some of the dresses are quite famous.
This cracked me up-and made me realize how lucky we are to be able to dress as we do:
3438 - c. 1892 Wrapper in Olive and Red Shot Broche with Olive Satin Ribbon! Ah, back when women were women. Back when we dressed in silks and satins for morning tea. When gowns like this were worn as "breathers" from the tightly corseted day and evening gowns. Yup... these are the Victorian woman's "sweats"! Interesting combination of colors in this changeable silk, from olive to red. Excellent condition. Very large leg-of-mutton sleeves. This gown would look great on a mannequin in the corner of your room. She just has a great presence about her. Measures: 32/33" bust, 24/26" waist with tight ribcage, 41" long from natural waist.
