BILL GIBB, the prolific designer and creative inspiration for the likes of John Galliano and Giles Deacon, is to be celebrated in a new exhibition entitled Billy: Bill Gibb's Moment in Time at London's Fashion and Textile Museum.
The story of Gibb's personal and private life will be charted through a series of objects and firsthand stories by his close friends and family, with a focus on his most fruitful design period between 1972-8.
The unique insight allows fashion lovers to rediscover the Seventies Vogue Designer of the Year, who sent renaissance-inspired garments down a catwalk typically drenched in mini skirts. Curated by NJ Stevenson, whose earlier work explored Gibb's career, this is a natural continuation of his studies but with a thorough and rare perspective on the designer.
The show will also launch the V&A's new book, Bill Gibb, Fashion and Fantasy, by Iain R. Webb. A foreword by Twiggy - a staple icon of Gibb's era - ensures it will be an essential for any style-proud library.
Doors on the exhibition open October 24; visit Fashion and Textile Museum for further information.
