My style: Cameron Diaz
Feeling empowered: Cameron says everything she wears is tailored to her good points
The newly single Cameron Diaz has always prided herself on being a trendsetter rather than a follower of fashion. With her typically sinewy model frame, a black shredded bin liner would still look glamorous on the 34 year old star. Cameron, who's earning power has risen to a cool $15 million a movie since the success of the Charlie's Angels films, is back on the big screen as Princess Fiona in Shrek the Third
If you want to look glamorous, which designer do you rely on? I wore a gorgeous white Valentino dress to the Oscars this year. It was long and flowed with my silhouette. It was very fitted but comfortable at the same time and that's what I look for in a designer gown, especially when you have to wear it for eight hours! I tend to rely on Armani for the big events.
What's your greatest extravagance? I've never been very extravagant - I'm a simple person. I've been saying that for a long time, so I feel like it's true. I like to surf a lot so my only fashion extravagance would investing in a lot of bikinis.
What kind of bikinis do you wear when you go surfing? Pualani have really great Hawaiian bikinis which I've worn over the last few years, I just like the stretch. I don't like tan-lines, so I try to get the smallest bikini possible.
What brand of jeans do you wear? I am denim obsessed. Every week it's something different because there are so many different types of jeans. I'm over the dark wash with the fade, I like the true dark wash and I definitely like the bootleg a lot. Right now I'm into William Rast [Timberlake's company] - they have a great cut and are good for all butt sizes, which is hard for jeans.
What brand of bag are you toting at the moment? My Marc Jacobs canvas tote. I have it in military green and it has metal studs all down the side. It goes with everything and you can dress it up or down - I love it.
What's the best fashion freebie you've received recently? I have this cute, little mint green bikini by Le Doux Lollipop which is a cool Brazilian label that I wear a lot. It's really comfortable and looks and feels great.
Do you watch what you eat? Growing up, I was this completely skinny child and my best friend's mother thought I was poor and my family couldn't afford to feed me! I eat all the forbidden foods such as beef and greasy fries - I'm a cheeseburger junkie. I'm a salty, greasy girl. We are a gluttonous society, we take way more then we need, so it's about knowing when it's enough. It's about balance.
Do you have a favourite beauty product you couldn't survive without? My skin takes a lot of effort and it's always breaking out. When I was modelling I had about 15 people touching me all the time.....hair, make-up, styling and all that stuff. So I'd have dirt on my face and make-up on top of dirt..........nice! I'd go home and lock myself in the bathroom for an hour afterwards and just shower and moisturise. I really like anything by Kiehls, especially the Ultra Facial Cream which has a lot of avocado oil in it and it just works for my skin.
What's your most treasured accessory? My mum gave me a beautiful silver hairpin when I landed my first modelling contract. It can also be used as a weapon.
Would you ever consider plastic surgery? I'm not comfortable with the idea of cutting myself up - I hope I never become that vain. I will never get breast implants. I just think in LA a lot of girls are doing it for other people. So it maybe in now to have big boobs, but in three years from now, it'll probably be the flat-chested look that's back. Besides, I don't think I need it. I'm happy with the way I am.
Do you have a favourite make-up trick? I wear MAC's white frost shadow on my brow bone to make my blue eyes pop.
What outfits make you feel empowered? Everything I wear tends to revolve around my breasts. It's not because I'm trying to be sexy, but because I find wearing a bra extremely uncomfortable. Basically, I like to wear short skirts that show my stomach. Or little baby doll dresses that are open at the top and super short at the bottom. I often max out my credit cards when I shop at Versace and Giorgio Armani. I also have a serious shoe fetish. Come on, a girl can never have too many sandals!
What's your biggest beauty blunder? I can't really remember one in particular, but I tend to buy dozens of creams which I've probably only dipped my finger in only once. There are about 20 different gels and creams in my bathroom cabinet at this moment. My skin is very sensitive and I have a serious pimple problem, which is why I've tried so many brands. You frequently change your hair colour, but do blondes have more fun? I don't know about that. I'm having just as much fun, if not more as a brunette!
