Gaucho pants?
High fashion or fashion no-no?
I have been seeing them more and more lately and as I was shopping this weekend they seemed to be on all the racks at the better dept stores. Tried on a pair and they looked hideous, like a new way to emphasis camel toe and lard ass at the same time while draped in too much fabric.

Re: Gaucho Pants?
Oh my gosh I had to have a pair of these pants when I was like 10 yrs old. I wore those puppies all the time. Funny they are coming back. And who came up with the name? Every time I hear Gaucho Pants I think of Groucho Marx HEHEE

Re: Gaucho Pants?
Haven't worn them in years, like since 3rd grade, but I love Capri's and I may have to go out and get me a pair. I will admit that I don't hate this look...
I saw a bunch at The Gap and w/the right ensemble, they can be cute!
I give it a thumbs up!

I used to wear them and liked them a great deal. But it's not a good look for me now..you young chicas could carry it off and it's a fun look.

Re: Gaucho Pants?
I love them, but I can't wear them. I really, really want for a company to make PETITE proportioned gaucho pants, but I haven't seen them yet. If I buy the regular ones I just get really baggy pants

Re: Gaucho Pants?
If you are at all stumpy (which I am) they tend to make you look even stumpier. They make you look like you have no legs. Not a good look for me.

And that's exactly why I didn't buy a pair. I'm short and stumpy and don't need clothes that point it out to everyone else. But I love them on tall skinny girls.

Re: Gaucho Pants?
I wear them to work with tall boots, but doubt that I'd wear them after winter.
It took a while to find a pair that fit decently though! Too many pair had the "CT" issue, which is weird.....and they couldn't be the clingy fabric either.
My skinny sister wears them in the spring/summer with heels and flats, and they look nice. I, however, am a size 14/16 (depends on the time of the month!) and 5'8", and they still don't look right without boots, too curvy for them.
I wore them when I was much younger, in fact, I made a lovely rust corduroy pair with a braided belt, hot!

Re: Gaucho Pants?
^ That's actually a good idea. They wouldn't be difficult to make, gauchos are constructed in a relatively simple way. I could probably make a pair in the right length, hmm....

Re: Gaucho Pants?
Gauchos with tall boots was a late 70's, early 80's look as I recall. All the gauchos back then were loose and flowing, though. I am debating on whether to buy the tailored ones at Express. They basically look like long shorts. I think that could be cute with a tank and some ballet flats.

Re: Gaucho Pants?
i have a black pair that i tailored (bc i'm v short and didn't want to look even shorter) so now they are better proportioned. i like em with tall boots, or they look v cute w my vintage gold flats.

Re: Gaucho Pants?
I'm a shortie so I'll look like a Hobbit wearing those.
