    Default Shopping in Milan

    Yeah baby!

I'll be flying to Milan in the first 2 weeks of October (1-10.10.09) and I do plan to shop, shop, shop! (I realise there's still time but I'm so excited!)

Now, which stores should I go to? I'm not into Chanel, D&G, Gucci and all, don't want to spend 1000 euro over a single dress. I like Pimkie!
Please recommend stores\places in Milan where I can buy nice clothes in decent price!

    Thanks

i don't know if they have h&m in italy but if they do, they have fashionable clothes for cheap. same for zara, mango, etc.

also check out the department stores. the only one i remember right now is La Rinascente, i think it's near the duomo.
the la brera district is also good, and chinatown has little shops too. and the corso buenos aires is the main shopping street.

another option, if you want cheap designer clothes is to check out all the outlets and factory shops. they're a bit outside of town so you have to take a bus there or rent a car.

these webpages list most of the outlets:

there's also the foxtown outlet in mendrisio - it's technically in switzerland, but right by the border and it's about an hour away from milan

I loooooove shopping in Italy. My mother and I have literally spent thousands there on vacation. I just loooove European clothes. I always bring something back for my friends though, and they wear the stuff all the time.

Unless you're Japanese there's no real (finacial) benefit of shopping Milan.

when i travel, i like to shop at street markets. cool stuff, low prices. since the world has become a giant mall with all the same stores everywhere, markets tend to have things that are different.

Milan has some good ones: Fiera di Sinigaglia which is along the wharf, and the one in Viale Papiniano. The best one for clothes is probably Viale Fourche. There are some more too. Ask around when you get there. Your hotel concierge should have some info.

I checked out the vintage stores & fabric/wool shops when I was in Prague - I found some amazing wool that you can't get over here - ditto the fabrics! Damn cheap airlines with strict weight allowances!!!!

    +1 H&M is a good choice.

My advice - simply get out of hotel and look around. Milan is a one big shopping center!
