Surely there are things from decades past that were just as "showstopping" and not necessarily trashy e.g. the topless swimsuit (don't remember the designer, but it got arrests on the beach) or even the first women not to wear 10 lbs. of wooley fabric on the beach, who was also arrested.

[Edit:] Rudi Gernreich invented, among other things, the monokini (not the bikini's with a piece down the middle, but bikin's the were just bottoms) and pubikini.

"Trampling on morals!" was the Soviet reaction to Rudi Gernreich's globally notorious topless swimsuit of 1964. That didn't deter 3,000 women from buying them at $25 [$150.89 today] a pop, or defuse the design's symbolic power: liberation, youth, and androgyny articulated in a single piece of spandex. (Vogue, July 2005)
The first two women to wear them on the beach were arrested:

Well, yeah, if they are natural then I guess they may sag a little! Come one, we've been through this before!!!! Don't be brainwashed by all the huge half-grapefruits!! Beautiful natural breasts often have sag.

Um, those bikinis were on sale in the Soviet Union? I had no idea
they were such swingin' commies.

Perhaps the designer was an asylum seeker who fled the USSR
and they felt compelled to trash his decadence anyway.

UPDATE: Turns out he was never a Soviet. He was born in Austria in 1922,
fled Nazism in 1938 and went to L.A....which explains everything.

Actually, on a vaguely-related tangent,

I had the chance to see the original French film of the
Gene Wilder comedy The Woman in Red. The title was,
obliquely, Un elephant ca trompe enormement (An Elephant
Can be Deceptive), and the Kelly LeBrock role was played
by a woman named Anny Duperey.

She wore a pantsuit in some kind where the legs were baggy,
like something from an Aladdin tale...but they were slit all the way
up the side,
from ankle to the top of her thigh. I can't find a picture
of her with that outfit, but it was a show-stopper, believe me.
(Needless to add, she had the legs for it.)

Carol Vorderman? She's an extremely intelligent mathematician. She's a member of MENSA. Most famous for being on count down, a UK show hosted by Richard Whitely (R.I.P) It was all about letters and numbers and she help with the math.

I like Halle Berrys dress, Julia's is classic and I dont see anything wrong with Jlo's dress either- The girl have SOME curves! We should rejoice in the fact that this is considered hot, and not oversized.
On the subject of showstoppers in the sleazy way, here is a favourite showstopper (click and proceed with caution- you may need an occular douche afterwards). Trog supreme, miss Jodie Marsh:

Sorry about that!

On another note, Kelly has really fabulous natural breasts! Here is a pic to demonstrate just how large natural breasts are meant to look (obviously nsfw):

Lovely! Dont get fooled by the stupid silicone stereotype image of what lovevly looking breasts SHOULD look like. There is no "should" anyway.

Exactly what I was thinking? That dress was far from show stopping.

Kelly Brook should of just went naked.
