lol this is my little world and i sometimes forget that the UN-sphere is a little bubble. but yeah, he hasn't exactly raised the profile of the organisation. poor ban ki-moon, i can't remember the last time the UN had a less charismatic SG. at least the last one, kofi annan, was far more charismatic and was somewhat known outside the bubble.
i imagine this dinner was in honour of the SG as this is his last year and the new one takes over in january, and judging from the guggenheim signs i guess this is a new york centred event (every once in a while the city remembers the UN is here - usually it's when they hate us in late september when we block off traffic in midtown east for the general debate, but every once in a while they remember for nicer reasons lol). anyway, it's probably the guggenheim and they thought they'd invite whatever celebs were in town to get some press coverage because ban ki-moon isn't going to draw in the press.

Sputnik, I really hope you referring to this Emily person. I know who Ban Ki moon is, and was at this reception in his honour although I didn't meet him.
