i didn't mean to stereotype, i was only saying that it seems to me like the vast majority of black women i see do seem to follow this trend. my neighborhood is very multi-ethnic and there's a large african community and i'm just going by what i've observed.
and the black women i work with in the UN are no exception, except for the women on the south african delegation, not a single one of them wears a weave.
and i agree with you about the barbie mentality. and the sad thing is, all of these women looked best natural, whether it's the black woman with the weave or the dark-haired girl that dyes her hair blonde and ends up looking ill, like nelly furtado during her ill-advised pee-coloured hair phase.

So many women want something they don't have, curly hair wants straight hair, brunettes want blonde hair, flat chested want boobs and boobs want smaller ones. It's a sad commentary on society and womens' sense of self worth. I personally find the cookie cutter Barbie Hollywood types to be very bland and would never have wanted to look that way.
