I like it. It camouflages her bottom-heaviness. I would have done away with the capey thing in the back though.
Also, I don't think the peachy/pink/nude color photographs too well though, and almost everyone seems to be wearing it. Is it the theme color for this gala or something?

I think it emphasizes it. A fitted skirt or a basque bodice would have looked better on her - or a really big skirt. Lots of gathering around the waist that just falls straight down is among the least flattering cuts you can put on a pear-shape.
