My mom owns 2. One my dad gave her as a gift when I was born, the other she bought for herself the year I turned 20, but it's very little (the one my dad gave her is pretty decent sized).

I honestly think the Louis Vuitton bags are ugly, one of my girlfriends brags about hers all the time and the first time I ever saw it, i was like, 'what the hell, is that it? I'm just not impressed.

I think they are totally ugly as well, they look like a crappy plastic K-Mart type bag. I need to invent something stupid and cheap, charge 5000% more than it's worth and rich ppl will buy it. I'll be rich too! Then I can afford some damn over priced handbag. (never would buy one)

I suppose if you parade around with a real LV bag then you have the secret pleasure of knowing it's not a fake, but if I see anyone with an LV bag I automatically assume it's a fake (and there's some REALLY good fakes around) anyway so I'm not sure why anyone would bother paying thousands of dollars for a real one in the first place. Does that make sense?

Yep it does make sense. I would be too scared to buy one because you just know people would be whispering *fake* behind your back! On the other hand, eagle -eyed LV spotters may try and steal it! (the thieves I mean)
Maybe I am just paranoid! I don't have the money to buy one anyhow.

don't really like them either, especially now that they're everywhere. my mother has a real one that she's had about 20 years and it's still in great condition. it's a nice classic bag and i have to say the quality is amazing and they almost get better looking with age. it's just not my style. i have spent ridiculous amounts on bags before but i would never splurge on a vuitton. there are way more beautiful bags out there.

I agree, I've always felt those bags were so ugly, and even more tacky with their label-whoring "LVs" all over the bag. And they're ugly in color. I prefer Christian Dior or Fendi bags.

A friend of mine went to Sydney last weekend with her brand new fake LV carry-on bag which Jetstar (the most crapola cheapo Aussie domestic airline) would not let her take onto the plane as hand baggage with her so she had to check it in. She was completely paranoid it would 'go missing' but it arrived safe and sound. What's the point?

Baggage handlers just looked at it and thought that if it was real she wouldn't have been flying on that airline?

I have two of these bags. I don't think they are particularly beautiful or anything, but they're handy for everyday wear and match pretty much everything, and they're great quality.
It's pretty easy to tell who is carrying a fake or a real bag. The fakes always look somewhat different. I don't understand people who carry imitation handbags, there are always other cute handbags in lower price ranges, so why not buy that? Just my opinion.

There are some high-quality fakes out there. But an expert can always tell. Usually with Chanel it is the stitching.

I repeat from the Hermes thread - what exactly do you want us to say? Ohhh aaahhh don't they look great, or what??

Well it depends where you get your fakes from. A $25 vinyl version from the local street market is one thing. But if you have a useful contact like the bloke I know then you really, truly can't tell the difference (apart from the price). They are made from top quality leather and have the 'authentic' lining and fixtures/fittings. I've compared my classic quilted fake Chanel against a real one and they are identical - trust me, I'm a Virgo - detail is everything and I don't compromise
