My bf brought me a springbok rug back from South Africa, I'm really against wearing real furr but I could hardly say I didn't want it! It feels so nice on your feet but I feel like a murderer just having it in my room!

How can you tell if a type of fur/animal skin-rug is illegal or not?
I mean, you might buy it in a marketplace, thinking it's legal,
and then get busted at the airport.

I don't think he'd of bought it from a market, it will have been from a legitimate type of shop (I hope!!)

I can't afford real anyway, even if I did wear it!
My bf bought me a pair of shoes in Gucci in Nice earlier in he year and I was having a little look around while I was there and I saw a pair of shoes with matching bag made of real Minc fur, real crocodile skin and real crystals. The shoes were about 14k and the bag was about 11k its ridiculous.

Re: Fur loving celebs
i wouldn't have a problem with fur if the ladies would track and hunt their own prey and then skin them theirselves (that's not a word, is it?) and THEN cook and eat the meat that they then have. personally, i love fur, but 1) i can't afford it and 2) even if i COULD i WOULDNT cause those factories and animal farms are just terrible places of torture...

Re: Fur loving celebs
Ohh please... you are going to hate me but... well........
Most of those animals are like freaking rats. If they wouldnt kill them, we will have a tremendous number of these animals spreading diseases, eating the fields, and blah blah.
There is a lot of movement for those animals, but what about people who works in fabrics for pennies or have a 10 daily kalories diet? There should be more compromise, money and effort for human rights instead.

Re: Fur loving celebs
Kimu, you've lost me with that, "many of those animals are like freaking rats" comment. No animal, rats included, should be treated as cruely as these animals are treated just for people's vanity.
This whole thing has been discussed before on this forum...but anyway, people can be interested in human rights AND animal rights and anything else in between.

Oh please, enough with the "don't waste money on animals, spend it on people instead". Caring and compassion do not have to be centered exclusively on people, there's room and money to care for all creatures!! And no living being should be treated cruelly, I don't care if it's four-legged or two-legged. If I live to 100, I will never understand the attitude that it doesn't matter how animals are treated. And I am going to continue to happily and generously give to animal causes, as do many others I know and like.
