I wouldn't tie anything long to my purse, it might get caught on something easily.
The only piece of cloth I've ever tied on to something is just a hankie to my suitcase handle so I could identify it better when it comes out of the conveyer belt thingie at the airport.

I like the look of the short Hermes scarf tied around the handle:
... But this long, plain scarf just looks messy in my opinion. And Moomies is right, I'd be afraid it would get caught in subway doors and stuff.

^^ that looks classy, I like that. Mary Kate's scarf looks like some rag she found in a dumpster...

I do that sometimes, when I've got a scarf or muffler with me but it's too warm to wear it - happens a lot this time of year, when temperature vary wildly from day to day, and from midday to evening. Doesn't look great, but if the thing doesn't fit into my bag it's a fairly functional way of keeping my hands free.
I don't suppose you've much need for warm scarves in LA, but she's anorectic and they're often cold, right?

So that you don't take someone else's bag with you and don't realize you've done so for over half an hour and then when you come back to the baggage claim, you have the cops waiting there for you??? Good idea! Happened to me and the guy whose bag I took was NOT amused. Neither were the cops. So embarassing!

I found this one ugly green scarf thing on the ground after school and brought it home. It seemed dirty, so I washed it and tied it to my backpack, just like MK did with her purse. I dunno, I like it. I hate her, though. Ashley seems a lot prettier. {I can't explain it; she just does.}
So yeah. I think its cool.
