I'm so disappointed that she's smoking after what she went through with breast cancer. And she's looking a little thick in the middle. She just went down a few notches in my book

I assume she was smoking pre-cancer. Maybe it helps her relax. If she's addicted, she's addicted. Maybe she's trying to quit. I don't think this picture immediately means that she doesn't value her life, or her recovery.

Exactly. For some, cancer would be enough of a scare to make you stop smoking, but people who use cigarettes to chill out and are super dependent on them would have a much harder time.

That was my first fucking thought. It's like Patrick Swayze continuing to smoke cigarettes after he was diagnosed.

Hate the hair. I'd probably like the jacket if it had different buttons.

That's BS...I would think that a little thing called oh I don't know???CANCER would get you to STOP SMOKING? And please don't slide me the line of "it helps her relax"...studies have shown that cigarettes don't relax you! It's the way that you breath while you are smoking that calms you down, relaxation breathing.

*shrug* i would guess that she knows the risks of cancer and the potential ramifications of the disease pretty intimately and still chooses to smoke. Her call. I think she looks good.

I wasn't 'sliding you the line'. I've never smoked, I just repeated what my housemates say. Maybe they've conditioned themselves to feel relaxed after having a cigarette, but they still link it with smoking. Maybe she hasn't read/heard of these studies, so simply relates relaxation to smoking. It does happen you know.

It's her life anyway. If she wants to smoke, let her smoke. She's not asking for anyones pity or judgement. I'm sure in an ideal world she'd love to quit, but maybe it's not feasible right now.

But sadly Patrick Swayze doesn't have much time left so I can see why he hasn't quit smoking. It isn't going to make a difference at this point.
