Scientology invades Chinatown
I wasn't sure where to start this thread but since Scientology is sort of a religion...I decided to put this here.
Anyways, me and hubby went to Chinatown today for their night market, it's like a summer long cultural festival with concerts and venders etc here in Vancouver.
(pic taken by a cellphone cam)
Scientologists had a little tent where they were giving out STRESS TESTS with some kinda electrical device and preaching ppl about Dianetics
Mind you there were no other religious groups, not even Falun dafa ppl protesting (which you see quite often here in Vancouver), no Christians or Buddhists, not to mention Confucianists or Daoists. So I found it interesting that Scientology ppl were there trying to convert others. Ppl that went in to have the stress tests were mostly white folks, Asians didn't seem to be all that interested. I think ppl were getting the stress tests done mainly out of curiosity but I'd be scared to even communicate with other Scientologists, call me a bigot but some strange Thetan might come haunt me!

Re: Scientology invades Chinatown
It's pretty common to see them do that at fairs and carnivals. A couple of years ago our church had a booth at the state fair where we would pray for people's medical needs and they were set up right across the aisle from us. Same deal, stress tests, emeters and dianetics babbling at gullible white folks.

They had those tents set up throughout Boston last summer. If you were approaching the tent, all you would see would be the Stress Test sign. As you got closer, you realized what the deal was.
Haven't looked this year, but I'm sure they'll be back.

They have that little tent outside the huge toronto Scientology HQ.. it's so funny, all these people gripping little metal phalluses and being told they had too many thetans.

Re: Scientology invades Chinatown
I never hear much about Scientology in England, but I was driving through Manchester last weekend and there it was a store called "The Church of Scientology". It was lined with bookshelves, funnily enough there was no one visiting.

I'm in Texas and HONESTLY, I have never seen anything CLOSE to Scientology. I hear it's big in CA, but I've never seen it.

Saw them today! Loved walking by and seeing this cow-like Scientologist bellowing, " STRESS TEST! Get your STRESS TEST!" At all the commuters.
So peaceful and inviting.

There's a scientology center a few doors down from the aquarium store I used to go to. There's also a kabballah place a block or two down in the other direction, it's kind of a celebrity religion mecca.

Go here for a FREE online Scientology 'Personality Test'. I'm not psychic but I predict that all of you who take it will be described as 'depressed' or 'under stress' and suggest you call your local Co$ centre for some E-meter auditing. Then they will tell you to buy some books, and perhaps attend a few 'seminars' ($200 a pop) and before you know it you will be a fully lobotomised member.

Call me paranoid but if you do the online test, I'm thinking they'll log your IP addy, then find out where you live, what your name is etc and start sending you junk mail and you might also get some C0$ peeps come knocking on your door.

Well I've taken the test 3 times (and was 'depressed' 3 times) and nobody has come knocking on my door. They wouldn't dare.

I don't think it was a store, I think it was L. Ron's honourary office. Supposedly there is one in every CO$ centre, and I've seen it here too. I also thought it was a store at first, and laughed because no one was in it.
