When a 15-year-old girl was raped and impregnated in 1997, her New Hampshire church took justice into its own hands…by sending her to Colorado, thereby protecting her alleged rapist. Ernest Willis, 51, was finally arrested last month after the victim, now 28, read about similar cases and decided to come forward. After raping her twice, Willis offered to pay for an abortion—or punch her in the stomach to cause a miscarriage—when she became pregnant, the Concord Monitor reports.
When she declined and told the church what happened, pastor Chuck Phelps forced her “to confess my 1% guilt in the situation” by apologizing in front of the entire congregation, then shipped her out of state, she told police. Phelps notified authorities of the situation in 1997, but police couldn't locate her. “Without a victim, it makes it very difficult to have a case,” says a police officer.

Yup, and I'm equally disgusted with the brainwashed sheeple of the congregation who sat by while this girl was forced to confess a sin she hadn't committed (and I find the idea of having ANYONE confess any REAL sin in front of your whole church a breach of pastor/penitent trust and a revolting spectacle) and did nothing to see the rapist brought to justice or prevent his victim being exiled. Fuck it, I say that the whole damn lot of them are guilty!

While being kept in seclusion at her pastor's Concord home in 1997, Tina Anderson, then 15, was too afraid of the reaction from members of her church to tell the police she had been raped and impregnated by another parishioner, she said in an interview with the Monitor.

Anderson, now 28 and living in Arizona, said Trinity Baptist Church members had told her not to report an earlier case in which she had been molested by a convicted sex offender who was also a member of the congregation, so she expected them to do the same if she told them she had been raped.

"They told me that to be a good Christian, I need to forgive, forget and move on in my life," she said. "And they told me that a good Christian doesn't press charges on another good Christian.

Growing up, Anderson said, a family member molested her and beat her and her brother with a belt to "show us who was boss." When the man was imprisoned for an unrelated sex crime, Anderson, then 13, said she felt comfortable enough to tell church members that she, too, had been a victim. But she said church members told her to keep quiet."

In Pakistan, and many other Muslim countries, there is a history of making a girl marry her rapist as well as a history of gang-raping a girl who does not accept a marriage proposal. It's all very frightening and this story kind of proves that fundies the world round are bloody scary and have some seriously fucked up ideas about women and sex.
