I live near where this happened and have been following it on the news. The grandmother was on the news recently and she didn't even know the little girl was her granddaughter. She had seen her a couple of times but the "mother" just told her that she was baby sitting for someone else. She didn't know about the baby that died either. As far as she knew the new baby was the only grandchild she had.

They showed the inside of the trailer after everything had been removed and it was sickening. There were shots of them carrying the squalid crib out to take it into evidence. The whole thing is heartbreaking. My husband's first reaction was to say they should be shot. I think they should be tortured the same way they tortured that little girl.

If the state can't see its way clear to taking care of this couple in a timely fashion, I would be happy to do it for free, with a baseball bat. Or a sock full of rocks. Or whatever.
