I think I need to gauge my eyes out after seeing this pic.

    What horrendous acne.

He was probably prom king. Wait a minute - I doubt he made it past 5th grade.

Yes it can. It's uncommon but not unheard of. Health nazis say it's all the hormones in milk, meat, etc. I think it's more likely the nuclear waste being dumped in the creeks of West Virginia. And the VERY shallow, murky genepool.

Yep. I took my nine year old to the pedi because she had a lump in one breast. Turns out it is a breast bud and sure enough within a month, the other breast caught up. Doc says it's not unusual and he's seeing them as young as 4 and 5.

She'll likely start her period in a year or two.

Cornflakegirl, how has the early development affected your daughter's growth? Isn't early puberty supposed to potentially limit how tall a girl can get?

I think it's too soon to tell. She is small but so am I. I am worried she won't reach her full potential but her doctor said this is early or pre-puberty where her hormones are beginning to turn on but not at a steady rate or in high amounts (paraphrasing here so probably not technically accurate terms). So she will continue to grow and it shouldn't be too affected until she hits full fledged puberty. That will still be quite young though. And then, her growth will slow.

I also wonder about future fertility since her "childbearing" years will begin early, does that mean they will end earlier? I didn't ask that at the time but it's on my list for the next visit.

I started my periods at 10, so did my mum. I didn't have any problem with growth, although I was already quite big at that age.
