Apparently he purchased 33 guns in the past year. If that's not a red flag I'm not sure what is?? This is why there needs to be regulations and a national gun registry. No one should be able to buy that many high powered guns in one year.

The thing is, I'm not saying we need to be like Australia and ban all guns. But, I do think there should be a national registry for every gun. There should be a waiting period between when you apply for a gun, get a background check, etc. before you actually get the gun. If you sell a gun to someone else, you have to change the registry, much like what we do with cars. I think assault rifles need to be banned as well as those high capacity clips. These things seem pretty common sense. It's the fucking NRA that is in the pocket of our law makers who block all of these things.

The surreal part is going to the gun-store owner to ask about the guy. What are they supposed to say? "Oh, yeah, he was totally bat shit crazy. But I sold him an arsenal anyway!"

    Exactly!

I did read it they were purchased in 5 states, so that's why no one gun store thought too much of it. This guy had been planning for a long time. Scary.

Australia didn't ban all guns, just some types. You can have guns if you can provide a legitimate reason, like farmer or hunter, or even being a member of a shooting club or a collector. Some of these are still powerful, like a 30-30 rifle. You could kill a moose or caribou with that caliber bullet. (If Australia had moose, although they may need it for some of their spiders). They have stringent regulations (like police inspections of your gun storage), and cooling off periods. All common sense stuff.

It's a small price to most rational people, but too many Americans think it's too large. Dead bodies littering the streets are fine with them, they'll send thoughts and prayers.

Interesting...why would the NRA spend so much money on Trump....unless it wasn't "their" money...

NRA delegation met with the Russian Govt in Moscow right before spending $30.3 million on Trump in 2016 election

The thing is, even if he bought them all from the same gun shop, it’s not like there’s some maximum number you’re allowed to own. Unlike cats or dogs, which right now strikes me as infuckingsane.

The gun nuts are firmly and totally against a registry which would track how many guns each citizen has. That is their biggest fear. This is America, the individuals desires are always put ahead of what’s good for us collectively. Man babies don’t want to be told what to do. And any talk of that fuels more gun buying. The mass shootings are like a gun buying dog whistle. It’s sick.

I've seen this line of thinking being expressed time and time again and it never ceases to amaze me how blinkered it is. Some of them bring up the London Bridge terror attack and ask when we Brits are going to ban all knives and vans, not stopping to consider how much worse things would have been if the attackers had been armed with guns. You can try and outrun a knifeman (as many did). You can barricade yourself into shops and restaurants (as many did) and know that the attackers aren't going to simply blow the windows out with a couple of rounds and then spray gunfire at the people inside.

Pro-Gun American commentators have also been shouting that we British have no right to say anything because of our "pussy" gun control laws and terrorist attacks on our shores, but lets look at it another way. In the UK we are experiencing far FEWER terrorist attacks than at any time in the 1980's.

In 2017 thirty-six people have died in terrorist incidents (including Alt-Right attackers). That's twenty-two FEWER fatalities than one man caused in Las Vegas. Overall between January and October of this year three hundred and forty-six Americans have been killed in mass shootings. But we're the ones who've got it wrong??

Bad people are always going to do bad things and there is nothing you can do to stop them all, but what you can do is choose to try and limit their capacity for carnage.
