If appearances didn't count for something in terms of public perception, why would lawyers spend a fortune choosing juries, and clients pay them a fortune for their expertise in advising them on what to wear and how to present themselves?

Her looks are making people more interested in the case; like the Jonbenet Ramsey case. Good looking parents, good looking kid- its even more of a tragedy.
What a total waste of time, seeing as the grandparents cannot definitively speak on any of these subjects, because they were not there.
Sure, appearances count, but frankly, Kate McCann is short on sympathy because she made some critical errors in judgment at best, committed a serious crime at worst.
