This is what I keep coming back to in my mind. I need a rational explanation how someone who sits & watches, then chases someone down is the person standing his ground.

Frank Taaffe, Zimmerman's friend, has me worried. I think he believes George is innocent, but he comes off so aggresively.

Are there any black people on this jury? That rap by the defense attorney was racist and unconscionable.

What an ass-clown. I have been trying to figure out some defense tactic that would explain knock-knock jokes that insult the jury and a racist rap, and I can't think of any.

Sorry. That was an Onion article I posted. The rap didn't happen.

I love The Onion but I haven't read it in forever. That's hilarious.

I'm still getting over the knock-knock joke, which did actually happen...not so much because it was a joke but because it implied that the jury were idiots.

I have such a bad feeling about this trial now. Like we'll never know what actually happened because Zimmerman has created a version of it that he now believes in which Trayvon attacked him and he is the victim. And it seems likely that Trayvon did punch him. We'll just never know who confronted who.

Zimmerman's story about fighting with Trayvon and his jacket coming up and Trayvon seeing his gun and reaching for it is obviously bullshit. It is dark and you are on the ground fighting, and you happen to notice someone's gun? Bullshit. Again, that moment when Zimmerman pulled out the gun and shot Trayvon--we'll probably never know what happened then. I just hope the jury recognizes all the little pieces that don't quite add up.

But I think even getting a manslaughter conviction might be difficult. It just makes me sick...the whole thing should simply have never happened. And the idea that you could be walking somewhere, doing harm to no one, and die because you are black and the shooter is crazy--just disgusting.

He has about a 70% chance of walking, going by previous stand-your-ground cases in Florida. What is happening in that state with this law is absolutely crazy. Here is an excerpt from a larger article (Florida 'stand your ground' law yields some shocking outcomes depending on how law is applied | Tampa Bay Times):

An 18-year-old felon, convicted of cocaine and weapons charges, shot and wounded a neighbor in the stomach, then fled the scene and was involved in another nonfatal shootout two days later, according to police. He was granted immunity in the first shooting.

Two men fell into the water while fighting on a dock. When one started climbing out of the water, the other shot him in the back of the head, killing him. He was acquitted after arguing "stand your ground."

A Seventh-day Adventist was acting erratically, doing cartwheels through an apartment complex parking lot, pounding on cars and apartment windows and setting off alarms. A tenant who felt threatened by the man's behavior shot and killed him. He was not charged.

A Citrus County man in a longstanding dispute with a neighbor shot and killed the man one night in 2009. He was not charged even though a witness and the location of two bullet wounds showed the victim was turning to leave when he was shot.

Even chasing and killing someone over a drug buy can be considered standing your ground.

Anthony Gonzalez Jr. was part of a 2010 drug deal that went sour when someone threatened Gonzalez with a gun. Gonzalez chased the man down and killed him during a high-speed gunbattle through Miami streets.

Someone could set them up as a couple. That way the hate would be concentrated in one place.
