Man, wouldn't it be funny if she won her appeal and a judge found sufficient error to warrant a new trial and that opened up the can of worms to retry her on all charges.

    That can't happen. Double jeopardy.

I don't know about Florida, but it can definitely happen in my state, which is why attorneys advise clients to live with the lesser charges and not appeal them when there are bigger charges on the table.

It's not double jeopardy because if an appeals court finds enough error to warrant a new trial, then that's basically a reset button for both the state and defense. It not only voids any convictions but also any plea bargains, the sentences, etc. The appeals court basically rules that there was enough error committed that the original trial should never have happened, and sends it back for a new trial.

That's not double jeopardy because the appeals court has voided the original conviction and sentence. Although it is exceedingly rare for a case to be sent back for new trial, and I doubt it would happen in this case. It seems like this is solely a ploy for Casey to avoid answering questions in any of the civil suits against her.

To vacate the jury's verdicts on the murder/manslaughter charges, it would have to be a monumental error, considering every second if the trial was on tv, we would have heard a lot of tv squawking if that type of error had occurred. No one should hold their breath.

    Casey Anthony: Going Into Law?

After being acquitted in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee, Casey Anthony is making plans for her future and according to one of her lawyers, that may include a career in law.

"She's been exposed to the criminal justice system and I think that might be a pursuit of hers," attorney Ann Finnell says in this week's PEOPLE. "Whether it's a paralegal or an advocate for social justice issues, I don't know."

For the past three years, Anthony, 25, has been behind bars while the case against her went to trial, and during that time, says Finnell, she was "in limbo." Anthony will leave jail Sunday.

"She couldn't plan on anything," says the Florida attorney, who was going to participate in the penalty phase of the trial had Anthony been convicted. "Now she can start directing her own course."

Another possible career for Anthony? Something involving photography.

"She has always had a passion for that and hopefully she'll continue with it, because she has an obvious knack for it," says Finnell. "Those two things she's thinking about now but who knows what the future's going to bring."

Can't she just go back to her career at Disneyland?

Casey Anthony freed, heads for mystery destination

Lawyers whisk her away, but media helicopters closely follow her

ORLANDO, Fla. Casey Anthony was freed from jail early Sunday, and her representatives whisked her away to a mystery destination.
She wore a bright pink Polo v-neck top as she was escorted out of the Orange County Jail shortly after midnight by her attorney Jose Baez and several heavily armed law enforcement officers. Anthony went to a waiting SUV, which whisked her away in a convoy closely followed by media helicopters.
Neither Anthony nor Baez said anything to the hundreds of reporters, spectators and protesters gathered outside. She said thank you to one of the sergeants on her way out, NBC News video journalist Tony Zumbado told msnbc cable television. Zumbado was one of three journalists allowed into the jail to witness the release.
The Orlando Sentinel said some in the crowd shouted: "Killer!"
"It is my hope that Casey Anthony can receive the counseling and treatment she needs to move forward with the rest of her life," Baez said in a statement released to reporters.
Cable television station News 13 tweeted that Anthony was taken to Orlando Executive Airport, where many corporate and private aircraft are based. But the Orlando Sentinel said the SUV went to downtown Orlando and then into the parking garage of her attorney Cheney Mason's office, perhaps to switch vehicles.
Before her release, law enforcement officials put up plastic barricades around the jail's booking and release center, and about seven or eight deputies wearing bullet-proof vests patrolled the area. At least one officer carried an assault weapon. About five officers patrolled the area on horseback.

As midnight approached, upward of 100 spectators had gathered outside the jail. The crowd included about a half-dozen, sign-carrying protesters who had gathered there, despite a thunderstorm that dumped heavy rain over Orlando.

"This release had an unusual amount of security so, therefore, in that sense, it would not be a normal release," said Orange County Jail spokesman Allen Moore. "We have made every effort to not provide any special treatment for her. She's been treated like every other inmate.
Moore said there were no known threats received at the jail. Officials had a number of contingency plans in place, including plans in case shots were fired as she was released.

She reminds me of Sloth from Goonies...I think it is because of her ears and odd shaped head.
