I read in the paper that she was abducted by the 28 year old sunday school teacher and raped with a lewd object before she was killed. If this is true, that woman needs to die. Also that the victim was a playmate of her own daughter. Anyone heard the same?

^ Yep. I wonder if the Cantu girl played at her house often and if so, how many times before the murder she abused her or any other kids

I wonder if this woman also sexually abused her own daughter as well. My bet is she did.

I don't know, there was a history of sexual abuse on my mom's side by a relative, but neither her nor any of her sisters were ever abused.

I wouldn't doubt if it comes out there are even more victims. Having her own 5 year old daughter, there were probably lots of little girls who visited her home.

It's too bad the report in January wasn't taken seriously....maybe her behavior wouldn't have escalated to murder.

I hadn't seen this before. NO WAY this woman acted alone, imo. Women killing children not their own, in conjuntion with molestation is a category of crime so rare as to be non-existent..

Sources: FBI Visits 2nd Church In Cantu Case

    April 23

TRACY, Calif. -- In recent weeks, FBI agents visited a church along the Washington-Idaho border in connection with Melissa Huckaby's family, KCRA 3 has confirmed.

Huckaby, 28, has been charged in the homicide of 8-year-old Tracy girl Sandra Cantu. The girl's body was found in a suitcase pulled from an irrigation pond 10 days after she went missing.

"They were trying to put the pieces of their puzzle together. They were asking about certain people who might be able to lead them to other people. But I do not know exactly what they were looking for," Pastor Bill Creutzberg said by phone.

Sources close to the Cantu investigation told KCRA 3 that most of the FBI's questions centered on Pastor Lane Lawless.

Lawless, who lives in the mobile home park where Cantu once lived, is Huckaby's grandfather.

He is the pastor of Clover Road Baptist Church, which was searched while Sandra was missing and after Huckaby's arrest.

Sources told KCRA 3 that Lawless was questioned years ago as part of a report of suspected child abuse.

However, both the Asotin County Sheriff's Department and the Clarkston Police Department in Washington said they do not have any records of a criminal case ever being filed.

During the investigation, Lawless' wife, Connie, said Cantu visited their home often to play with their great granddaughter.

Huckaby has been charged in the Cantu case with one count of murder with the special circumstances of rape with a foreign object, lewd or lascivious conduct with a child under 14 and murder in the course of a kidnapping.

^^ Oh sick sick sick sick sick.

Cantu visited their home often to play with their great granddaughter

I wonder if she had been molesting her all that time.

Also I read that the judge ordered the evidence/findings sealed because the public would be outraged at what was found. That really makes my heart hurt. I wonder wtf she did to her

STOCKTON — Prosecutors said they've turned over more than 500 pages of documents and several audio recordings of interviews by police with the woman accused of killing 8-year-old Sandra Cantu of Tracy.
Melissa Huckaby, who faces murder charges enhanced with special circumstances — kidnapping, lewd or lascivious acts on a child and rape by a foreign object — was ordered to return to court May 22 for further arraignment. She didn't enter a plea during a Friday afternoon court appearance.
If convicted, Huckaby, 28, could spend her life in prison or become one of a handful of women on death row in California.
Attorneys from both sides were in favor of sealing Sandra's autopsy results, and

San Joaquin County Superior Court Judge Linda L. Loftus agreed.
"In the interest of a fair trail, for both sides in this case, that is the only option," Loftus said.
"There would be overriding prejudice if the record is unsealed."
She said there would be a great amount of "public outrage" if the results were released, and it would also be an invasion of privacy into the lives of Sandra's family. She said the rape and murder of a child is viewed by the public as a "heinous crime."
"We haven't seen anything like this in San Joaquin County," Loftus said. "A lot of courts have never seen this kind of case."
Sandra's body was found stuffed inside a large suitcase in a farm pond April 6. She was last seen alive near her mobile home park residence March 27.
Huckaby's attorney, Deputy Public Defender Sam Behar, officially withdrew his request to have Sandra's body removed from the Tracy mausoleum for a second examination.
Wearing a red jail suit — indicating she's a high-risk inmate — Huckaby, with her feet chained together and hands bound to her waist, sat quietly during her 20-minute court appearance, briefly smiling at her attorney and nodding at the judge when addressed.
While Huckaby didn't cry, as she did at her first court appearance April 15, she appeared ashen and tired. Huckaby is being held "under observation" and without bail at San Joaquin County jail.
After the proceedings, Huckaby's family was escorted from the courtroom, followed by members of Sandra Cantu's family, who were ushered out a side door. Both were whisked away, accompanied by armed guards in plain clothes from the district attorney's office.
After a lottery for the limited number of courtroom seats, more than two dozen members of the media crammed into the courtroom and some additional seating, while about 50 members of the public were allowed in.
Outside the courthouse, where more than a dozen TV trucks were parked, San Joaquin County Chief Deputy District Attorney Robert Himelblau said he's not sure if Huckaby will enter a plea during her next court appearance.
"Thirty days is necessary to get the rest of the information we have from the police agencies so we can turn it over to the defense so they can read the reports and have a better understanding of what's going on,'' he said. "We've already turned over 500 pages of discovery, and we'll turn over more

I agree we probably don't even want to know what she did to that poor girl...I'm already outraged by the little bit we've heard!

Yeah, I'm going to agree with the judge cause I really don't think I want to know. He's probably afraid this bitch's family will be attacked and run out of town.

Melissa Huckaby pleaded guilty in the death of Sandra Cantu, 8, a friend of her daughter who disappeared in March 2009.

(CNN) -- A former Sunday School teacher pleaded guilty to murder Monday in the death of an 8-year-old girl, a court official said. Melissa Huckaby pleaded guilty in the death of Sandra Cantu, a friend of her daughter's who disappeared in Tracy, California, in March 2009.
Her body was found about 10 days later in a suitcase submerged in a pond on a dairy farm.
Prosecutors had charged Huckaby with murder, kidnapping, lewd and lascivious acts on a child under 14, and rape by instrument. They were seeking the death penalty.
Huckaby will face a sentence of from 25 years to life in prison without parole when she is sentenced June 14, said Sharon Morris, assistant administrator for San Joaquin County Superior Court.

Yeah it's hard to believe it's been a year already.

Never let her out, judge! She is a sad excuse for a human being.
