I would like to invite you to spend a few hours watching a serial police impersonator who is also a registered sex offender.

I've been binging on a lot of police YouTube videos lately, mostly VIP DUIs or just outrageous DUI stops. I don't know why I find it so entertaining and interesting, but I think that's the point. This particular YouTube channel has many, many videos of such things (from a different channel, one of the best "do you know who I am?" videos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y5zx1xzzi7k). Anyway, back to the police impersonator/sex offender idiot. I think this channel started their coverage of this guy in October-ish of last year, but I only found it a couple of weeks ago. His name is Jeremy Dewitte and he's around 40 years old. He was arrested as a teen when telling a gas station attendant that he was a police officer that needed $15 of gas. About 14-1/2 years ago, he was convicted of a lewd and lascivious battery on a child between the ages of 12-15 ... this means there was anal or vaginal penetration for this particular charge in this particular state. I'm used to New Jersey where our registry tells you if the victim was a male or female, but apparently, Florida does not.

He owns a business that provides "escorts" for funeral procession. As far as I can tell, this is only a thing in Florida. In my part of NJ, we have a large senior citizen population and the public are generally very respectful of funeral processions and I'm 99% sure that a procession with FUNERAL cards in the windshield while following the hearse with headlights on is allowed to remain in the procession even through red lights. If there is a VIP's or LEO's funeral procession, there are usually multiple municipal, county and state police that escort the procession. Once in a while, you get an idiot that's not paying attention, but that's about it.

This guy has multiple police-style motorcycles and SUV-style police cars. They wear badges with Motor Officer on them. The statute that he keeps invoking does not allow funeral escorts to break any law that he repeatedly does, like crossing into oncoming traffic, having sirens (they're allowed to have a fog horn, but he also has fully operational police sirens), etc. He's apparently had beef with the local police for a while, but he acts like he's above everybody and that kind of makes police a bit pissed. When they pulled him over, he had a police baton (which I'm pretty certain is illegal in at least FL), HANDCUFFS, a bulletproof vest, and a Glock-style pistol in plain view on his "police" belt. They determine that it's only a BB (Airsoft) but it's without any orange tip designating it a non-lethal gun, which I think is a federal law. One of the charges he received was using radios ... this was because during the detainment/arrest, he started screaming over his communication devices (helmet cam, body cam, radios) for his staff to come help him.

I had been watching these videos as I found them until today when I watched all the rest of them in a row. I didn't know he was a sex offender until today. In NJ, our sex offender registry also has a tier system to rank the sex offender's risk to the community ... third tier is the worst, most likely to commit again, and it's rare to find them out of jail on the offender list anyway. In FL, they don't appear to have any kind of tier system. But when I found out that he was a registered sex offender and also is impersonating police officers, it sent a chill down my spine. Also, he was rearrested for failing to comply with registration just a year ago. He's had multiple charges continually added, so he's been in court several times and FL has a very good Sunshine Law (FOIA). His wife is almost due with their child. He and his attorney are pissed because all the additional charges are from viewing his confiscated body cam. Yes, the idiot taped everything he did. I'll link the reddit page for this guy because it's better formatted than I can do here.
