Default San Diego woman discovered details of her rape on a pickup-artist blog

Pickup artists found guilty of rape after woman finds a blog where men bragged about attacking her online

Three pickup artists who raped an intoxicated woman in California are facing prison time after being arrested by police when the victim found an online forum they wrote bragging about the attack.

Alex Smith and Jonas Dick, both 27, were instructors at the pickup-artist forum, Real Social Dynamics, and wrote online about their desire to meet and have sex with as many women as possible, according to The Daily Beast.
The pair shared their wisdom on how to get women during so-called boot camps with Jason Berlin, 28, for $300 per night.

The group was captivated by the seduction tips that were first popularized in 2005 by Neil Strauss with 'The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists.'
Smith, Dick and Berlin went on to rent a $2,000-per-month apartment in the trendy Gaslamp Quarter in San Diego.
The apartment was conveniently located just minutes away from several nightclubs and bars.
Smith and Dick occupied the apartment, as Berlin agreed to pay the rent in exchange for 'lessons' from the pair on how to victoriously pursue women.
After moving in together, 12 days later during an October 2013 night, a 31-year-old woman was raped in their apartment after a night out of drinking.

Dick, Berlin and Alex Smith moved in together in an apartment in the trendy Gaslamp Quarter (above) in San Diego. The rape happened inside the apartment 12 days after they moved in together

The Daily Beast reported that Claire - which is not the woman's real name - and her pal Laura went back to residence with Smith and Dick.

Laura chatted in one room with Dick back inside the apartment.
She became uneasy after her phone went missing while she went to use the restroom.
Laura went looking for her friend and knocked on the other bedroom door to see about them leaving to go home.
'When Alex opened [the door], Laura could see Claire on the bed,' The Daily Beast reported.
'Claire's dress was on the floor; she was lying facedown in a pool of her own vomit.'
Laura quickly helped her friend Claire, who was going in and out of consciousness, put her clothes back on.
Claire was surrounded by Berlin, who only had on a T-shirt, and Smith, who 'was completely naked and erect.'
Smith and Dick then began laughing before Smith said, 'We just tag-teamed your friend,' referring to himself and Berlin.

Claire went to the police and reported the rape. She had a a SART exam conducted, which is more commonly known as a rape kit.
Despite the tests, the police investigation did not go forward since they had not gone back to the apartment to question the men or collect any evidence from inside.

It's unclear if there are other women that the men have raped or sexually assaulted. After the rape happened, the property manager of the apartment where the incident happened has now installed security cameras (file above)

Police also did not seek a search warrant, which a judge later described as a misstep in court that was questioned.

However, Claire decided to search 'Jonas Dick' on Google and found a forum on Real Social Dynamics that had the horrific details of the crime.
The post was titled 'Run a train with bootcamp student,' and read as follows:
'Jonas [Dick] and I are both teaching BC [boot camp] tonight…We run into each other at pull o clock [bar closing].

'He asks me to Wing for him. I do; within a couple minutes I'm fingering my girl right outside of the bar in public. Pull back to the spot. 0 LMR. [Last-minute resistance]
'Make her beg for my d*** and I say only if my friend can f*** you too. So we run a train on the h**.
'I text Jonas to choo choo her but he has to occupy her friend. Her friend came out and I was like 'yeah we just tagteamed your friend' my chick freaked out (cause now she's the s*** etc.)
'I get hit in the face with a high heel. I laugh; we kick them out. Detail to be added when I have time.'
In a now deleted post, Berlin wrote: 'I know its choo choo time…I get up and walk towards the room.

'Writing this now, I already see a huge mistake. I came in with all my clothes on.

'I should've taken off all/most my clothes before I got in there…Then she leans over soon and starts puking on the floor…This is f***ing hilarious.

'He [Smith, who continued raping her] is so unphased / comfortable with weird and dirty situations.'
Rape charges against each of the three men were filed last year by the San Diego District Attorney's office.
The Daily Beast reported that Dick pleaded guilty to one count of rape and was also charged with the rape of a 16-year-old girl. He received eight years in state prison for both crimes.
Berlin pleaded guilty to one count of rape and faces up to eight years in prison.
Berlin and Dick will spend the rest of their life on the sex offender registry.
Smith was found guilty of one count of rape of an intoxicated person and one count of rape of an unconscious person, the New York Post reported.

He will be sentenced on October 20 and is being held without bail.
It's unclear if there are other women that the men have raped or sexually assaulted.
After the rape happened, the property manager of the apartment where the incident happened has now installed security cameras.
'They would come in with women who were happy and relaxed, and the women would come out — woman after woman — would looked stunned and upset with the same tense body language,' the property manager, Linda Boisver, told The Daily Beast of the men.

'I don't know if they were raped, but if there is a body language to rape, what I saw would have been it.
'One lady went in with two friends and came out covering her face, crying.
'When they got down to the lobby and the elevator door opened, I could see she was balled up on the elevator floor. It was heartbreaking. I just wanted to scream.'

I can't believe this woman had to do her own detective work!

"Claire went to the police and reported the rape. She had a a SART exam conducted, which is more commonly known as a rape kit. Despite the tests, the police investigation did not go forward since they had not gone back to the apartment to question the men or collect any evidence from inside.
Police also did not seek a search warrant, which a judge later described as a misstep in court that was questioned. "

If she hadn't found the website they would have just kept raping women and no one would have bothered to stop them even though this woman did all the right things in reporting the rape and having a having the exam done. Unbelievable or sadly too believable.

These guys are probably going to end up like human pincushions in prison. Pretty ironic.

    How freaking sick & disgusting.

What vile pieces of trash these guys are. And unfortunately, there are a lot of guys out there just like this. Makes me sick to my stomach.

I don't understand the shitty police work here. The girls told them names and location and NOTHING happened with that information? People need to lose jobs over that shit.

Can you charge a police officer for obstruction of justice? Because not doing your fucking job and pursuing a rapist who is then free to rape other people seems like obstruction to me. I seriously want to see charges.

Fuck those police officers, FUCK them.

Edit: & I was talking to someone who has a degree in criminal justice, and he mentioned that rape is such a murky field, a big grey area, and that you have to be cautious of fake accusations. What is this mentality? I was grossed out to hear that, and I'm disgusted to see that it's obviously the general mindset for officers. A big grey area to not bother with, even when the victim comes forward and gives such clear evidence.

No, it's NOT UNCLEAR!!!! They've done this before, clearly. And hopefully, they won't get the chance to do it again.

This is another, "What the fuck is wrong with people?!" topic! I don't know how people can do these things and not feel bad for the hurt they've inflicted??? I'm glad they're on the sex offender registry list for life, at least they've gotten some kind of punishment, even if they don't end up going to jail.

There is so much wrong here.

*that these guys even exist and are now probably heroes and martyrs in the PUA annals
*that they thought they were so untouchable that they could boast about it online
*that they got ridiculously low prison terms (only 8 years for two counts of rape, one against a minor??)
*that the police didn't take this seriously, on any fucking level
*that they'll come out of prison one day and do this again

I hope that by the time these guys come out they have to tie their arseholes closed with string so they don't shit themselves.
