Default Police look for ex-LAPD cop in shootings

This is some scary shit. It's been consuming Orange County over the last few days. A couple was murdered in their car in Irvine, CA in the parking garage of their condo. Anyone that's familiar with OC and Irvine knows that crime like this is practically unheard of. The police didn't release many details, so people were wondering if there was some sort of madman on the loose. Looks like they've known about this guy since Sunday. The female victim was the daughter of an LAPD captain.

This morning, police were on their way to another LAPD officers house in Riverside county when they spotted his vehicle. He opened fire and shot three officers, killing one. He was on his way to this officers house.

I hope they catch him soon. (Sorry the article is pasting funky)

L.A. police look for ex-cop suspected in shootings
os Angeles (CNN) -- A former Los Angeles cop who had allegedly warned he would target law enforcement in retribution for being fired is now suspected of shooting three officers early Thursday, killing one, authorities said.
The shootings -- which come a day after Irvine, California, police named Christopher Jordan Dorner as the suspect in a double slaying there Sunday -- sparked a huge manhunt in Southern California.
The California Highway Patrol issued an alert Thursday morning urging officers in several Southern California counties to be on the lookout for the onetime officer and Navy lieutenant.
The manhunt stretched from Los Angeles all the way to San Diego, where police said the attempted hijacking of a boat could be linked to Dorner, CNN affiliate KFMB reported. The station said Dorner's police badge had also been found in the city. He worked for the LAPD from 2005 until 2008.
Multiple law enforcement agencies linked Dorner, 33, to the shooting of two Riverside police officers in an ambush at an intersection about 1:30 a.m. One officer died. Police learned of the shooting when a good Samaritan picked up a police radio and made a distress call on behalf of the wounded officers, Riverside police said.

About an hour earlier, police believe, Dorner shot and slightly wounded a Los Angeles police officer assigned to protect officers who he allegedly threatened in a lengthy letter complaining of his treatment by the Los Angeles Police Department, according to LAPD Officer Tenesha Dobine. That shooting took place in Corona, California, early Thursday as the officer was exiting the freeway in that Riverside County town, according to Los Angeles police.
In addition to Thursday's shootings, Dorner is suspected of the February 3 deaths of Monica Quan and her fiance Keith Lawrence in Irvine, according to police there.
Quan, 27, was the daughter of retired Los Angeles police officer Randal Quan, Dobine confirmed to CNN.
In his letter, which was provided to CNN by an LAPD source, Dorner said Randal Quan handled the appeal of his termination and bungled it. Dorner appealed the case to a Los Angeles court, where a judge ruled against him in 2011, according to court records.
Dorner threatened Quan and his family as well as several other LAPD figures, and said his treatment at the agency's hands had ruined his life.
"I never had the opportunity to have a family of my own, I'm terminating yours," Dorner allegedly wrote, according to the document provided by the source.
    KCBS: Riverside officer fatally shot
The letter writer warned the officers to "look your wives/husbands and surviving children directly in the face and tell them the truth as to why your children are dead."
According to the letter, Dorner also threatened to use his Navy training against additional police officers who he said were involved in a continuing culture of racism and misconduct in the department.
"I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty," Dorner allegedly wrote.
The letter writer claimed he was terminated after he reported excessive force by a fellow officer. He said the attacks were "a necessary evil that I do not enjoy but must partake and complete for substantial change to occur within the LAPD and reclaim my name."
In Riverside, police sealed off intersections in the downtown neighborhood where the two officers had been shot. Police, some of them in SWAT gear, carried assault rifles on their shoulders, their fingers on the trigger guards.
Los Angeles police warned people who encounter Dorner not to approach him, saying he is likely "armed and extremely dangerous."
"Our department is implementing all measures possible to ensure the safety of our LAPD personnel, their families and the Los Angeles community, and will continue to do so until Dorner is apprehended and all threats have been abated," police said in a statement.
Dorner is a former U.S. Navy Reserve lieutenant who worked with river warfare units and a mobile inshore undersea warfare unit, among other assignments, according to Pentagon records obtained by CNN. He also provided security on oil platforms in Iraq.
He was rated as a rifle marksman and pistol expert, according to the records.
His last day in the Navy was February 1, according to the records.

Really very scary. They found some pieces of his ID in north San Diego county and have started to lock down military bases.

The cops are going fucking crazy. Two separate incidences of officers opening fire on vehicles that match the description of this guys vehicle. One truck was in a neighborhood delivering newspapers and cops were patrolling that neighborhood, apparently protecting an LAPD officer that lives in that neighborhood, and the cops shot up the truck. Another happened in the same general area. Cops saw a truck that somewhat matches the description and opened fire. Two people were injured in the first truck, and one person was in the second and not injured. Good luck to anyone driving a dark colored pick up truck. Jeez.

There are helicopters all over the canyons out this way. Who knows what they're looking for.

It sounds like he might have cause to be royally pissed, but killing family members who have nothing to do with it is pure bullshit. I hope the catch him soon.

^^I know. Those poor people that are related to the cops listed in the manifesto. This poor girl and her fiance had the bad luck to be related to this one captain (her dad). It's a shame.

And I know you can't judge a book by its cover, but it's sad to look at the pictures of Christopher Dorner, the suspect. He looked like a happy, jovial man with a kind, sweet face. I hate to think of what goes wrong in your head.

    From his Facebook page:
"The Violence of action will be HIGH," Dorner wrote. "I will bring unconventional and asymmetrical warfare to those in LAPD uniform whether on or off duty ... You will now live the life of the prey ... I have the strength and benefits of being unpredictable, unconventional, and unforgiving."
Gotta find this guy, like yesterday. Nobody's safe around him.

It's crazy as hell. They have no clue where this guy is. He knows what he's doing because he was trained well. LAPD and the Navy. He's leading police on a wild chase for sure. They know he was in San Diego yesterday, believing he stayed the night on Tuesday at a hotel near Point Loma. They found his license and badge in north San Diego county in the middle of the night last night. He was in Corona (Riverside County) at 2 a.m this morning because he killed the officer there. They also think he was in Torrance/Redondo Beach this morning. He's all over the place.

They've pulled all motorcycle cops and put them in patrol cars.

ETA - Looks like they are heading up to Big Bear in the San Bernadino mountains. A vehicle that matches the description of his vehicle was found on fire.

Seriously, the amount of helicopters around here today is scary. They must have had reason to think he was around here.

I totally agree. If he's up in Big Bear, there are a shit-load of houses, cabins and hunting shacks. He could be hunkered down anywhere.

This is Christopher Dorner. Totally normal looking guy.

I heard on the radio that two innocent people have been mistakenly shot by LAPD because they were in the same type of car driven by Dorner.

    Damn.

Sorry.. just saw this was already posted above. This is such a crazy story!
