The father of one of the girls accused of brutally stabbing a school friend to pay homage to an eerie horror story character, apparently encouraged his daughter's sick obsession by proudly posting a sketch the 12-year-old drew of the scary figure on Instagram.
Morgan Geyser, 12, drew the sinister stickman, inspired by an online ghost story about a ghoulish child killer called Slender Man, on a napkin and left it in the family home while she was out with her parents were out for dinner.
But far from being alarmed by the disturbing sketch, Morgan's father Matt seemed to find it amusing and posted it on his social network account.
Beneath the picture he wrote: 'Only Mogo (Morgan) draws Slenderman in crayon on a napkin when we are out to dinner'. He tagged Morgan's mother Angela in the post and four of his friends, 'liked it'
MailOnline can reveal Matt Geyser is a death metal fan, who uses the Instagram name, Deadboy420.
Father and daughter: Matt Geyser interspersed his Instagram feed with wholesome family photos like this one with his daughter Morgan alongside Gothic-inspired drawings and cartoons with a dark twist
Telling: He posted this photo two months ago with the caption 'Only Mogo draws Slenderman on a napkin in crayon when we're out for dinner' showing that he was aware of his daughter's fascination with the virtual villain well before the attack
Matt Geyser is a fan of the 'stoner rock' band 'Deadboy and the Elephantmen'.
Email addresses linked to Matt Geyser’s name and address on public records include the words ‘ILOVEEVIL’ or variously ‘ILOVEEVIL666’.
He recently posted a picture of a ticket for a Shadows Fall concert, a group with albums including Of One Blood and The War Within.
His wife Angie has also posted a number of pictures of skulls and one eerie image of a church and grave yard at night on her Instagram page.
Mr Geyser's apparent knowledge of his daughter's obsession with the Slender Man character comes as a worrying new development in the gruesome attack that left a 12-year-old fighting for her life.
- Two 12-year-olds obsessed with online ghost stories 'lured classmate into woods and stabbed her 19 times' to prove 'Slender Man' myth was real
It is also concerning that he recognized the ghostly figure from a simple, stickman sketch, seemingly proving he had prior knowledge of the ghost stories his daughter had started to read.
Questions will also be asked as to why the school girl was allowed to search the internet for tales of the murderous character and apparently become so obsessed by it.
Morgan and her friend Anissa Weier, 12, allegedly lured their victim to a woodland area in their home town of Waukesha, Wisconsin and stabbed her 19 times before leaving her to die.
According to police Geyser and Weier had been plotting the crime for months.

Both suspects told police they tried to kill their friend because of their obsession with Slender Man, a character they discovered on a website called Creepypasta Wiki, which is devoted to horror stories.
An administrator posted a message defending the site after it came under attack in connection with attack.
'I'm going to make myself loud and clear: ALL WORKS PRESENTED ON THIS WIKI AND OTHER SITES (INCLUDING SLENDERMAN ... ) ARE FICTIONAL STORIES AND CHARACTERS,' they posted Tuesday.
'This wiki does not endorse or advocate for the killing, worship, and otherwise replication of rituals of fictional works. There is a line of between fiction and reality, and it is up to you to realize where the line is. We are a literature site, not a crazy satanic cult.'
It followed a formal statement from the site claiming Slenderman stories are limited on the site and they do not believe the writings on the page encourage violence.
In an official police report Weier said Slender Man is the ‘leader’ of Creepypasta, and she needed to kill to show their loyalty.
PARENTS CRACKING DOWN ON THEIR CHILDREN'S INTERNET USAGE SINCE STABBING STEMMED FROM ONLINE GHOST STORY WEBSITE
Parents of the classmates of accused stabbers Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier have been urged to more closely monitor their children's online behavior.
This comes after the two 12-year-olds attacked their friend in an alleged attempt to pay homage and serve as proxies for Slender Man, a fictitious violent creature that plays a role in many virtual ghost stories.
Tamra Davis, the mother of a 12-year-old girl who also attended Horning Middle School with the pair, told the Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel how she is limiting her daughter's internet access in the wake of the Saturday morning attempted murder.
Other parents have instructed their children to become more vigilant reporting suspicious behavior that they notice in their peers.
The school has also called in two additional guidance counselors and a psychologist who have all been trained in grief management.
She explained Geyser told her they needed to become ‘proxies’ of Slender Man — a paranormal character with tentacle-like arms, who wears a black suit and prays on children.
The only way to prove themselves to him was to slaughter their friend.
Weier told police she was shocked by Geyser's evil suggestion, but excited to prove skeptics wrong and show that Slender Man really did exist.
The suspects were convinced ‘Slender,’ as Weier called him, lived in a mansion in the Nicolet National Forest in northern Wisconsin. They planned to kill the unnamed victim and walk to the mansion.
Geyser was allowed to have two friends over each year for her birthday. Weier and her decided to try to kill their friend during a sleepover on Friday night.
After class at Horning Middle School, Waukesha on Friday, Weier told police, she and Geyser went to her house, so she could pack a backpack with clothes, granola bars, water bottles and a picture of her mother, father and siblings.
She said she didn't want to forget what her family looked like after leaving for Slender's mansion.
The girls then went to Geyser's house. Matt Geyser gave them a lift to pick up the victim and they all went to a skate park, before coming home around 9:30 p.m. and going to sleep in Geyser's room.
Geyser and Weier had originally planned to kill their victim at 2am Saturday, according to the criminal complaint.
They decided to duct tape their victim's mouth, stab her in the neck and pull the covers up to make it look like she was sleeping, before running to Slender Man's mansion.
But they changed their plans on Friday night and decided to kill her in a bathroom at a nearby park the next morning. Weier told police she knew there was a drain in the floor for the blood to go down.

As they left for the park the next morning, Geyser lifted up the left side of her jacket; the knife was tucked in her waistband.
When asked by police what that meant, Weier said, ‘I thought, dear God, this was really happening.’
When they got to the park bathroom, Geyser handed Weier the knife, and Weier said Geyser tried to restrain the victim, but Geyser had a ‘nervous breakdown’ and Weier had to calm her down.
Weier then said they should go for a walk in the woods. They planned to play hide and seek with the victim and then kill her when they were out of sight, in the trees.
Weier and the victim went to hide, but when the school girl told her, 'friend' to lie facedown in the dirt, she refused.
At that point Weier pushed the victim and sat on her, thinking Geyser could stab her.
But the victim started to shout and scream that she couldn't breathe so much, Weier had to get off.
Geyser gave Weier the knife, but Weier said she told Geyser she couldn't go through with it and gave it back.
Weier said once Geyser got the knife back, She said, ‘I'm not going to until you tell me to.’
Weier said she started walking away from Geyser and then told her, ‘Go ballistic, go crazy.’ Geyser said she would go ballistic, and Weier said, ‘Now.’
Geyser then apparently tackled the victim and started frantically stabbing her.

Weier said when Geyser got off the victim, the injured girl was screaming, ‘I hate you. I trusted you.’
Weier said the victim tried to walk toward the street but was stumbling. They didn't want anyone to see her, so Weier grabbed her arm and pulled her away from the street, causing her to fall over.
Weier said the victim was so badly injured she couldn't breathe, see or walk.
Weier then told the victim to lie down and be quiet — because that would mean she would lose blood more slowly.
She also told her they were going to get help; but they never planned on actually doing so.
Weier said they were hoping she would die, they would see Slender and finally prove he existed.
They left the victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
When police asked Weier if she knew what it meant to kill someone, Weier said, ‘I believe it's ending a life and I regret it.’
Weier also said, ‘The bad part of me wanted her to die, the good part of me wanted her to live.’
On Saturday, a bicyclist found the victim, lying on the sidewalk, covered in blood, with terrible injuries to her arms, legs and torso. She had crawled out of the woods, where the suspects had left her. She was rushed to a hospital, and on Monday night she was in stable condition, but fighting for her life.

A Waukesha County sheriff's deputy found Geyser and Weier hours later, walking near a main road. A knife with a five-inch blade was in Weier's backpack.
In her police report, Geyser said she thought Weier stabbed the victim first.
‘Weier put the knife in my hand and then I continued to stab her,’ Geyser said.
She said she didn't know how many times the victim had been stabbed, adding that all she heard was screaming.
At one point, when talking with police, Geyser said she was sorry. She then told a detective, ‘It was weird that I didn't feel remorse.’
When asked why she did it, she said they had to or ‘he would kill our family.’ When asked who ‘he’ was, Geyser said she didn't know him. When questioned as to what she was trying to do when she stabbed her friend, Geyser said, ‘I may as well just say it: Kill her.’
Geyser said she had never met Slender Man but that he watches her and can read minds and teleport. Geyser said what she did was ‘probably wrong.’
On Monday, the two girls were charged in Waukesha County Circuit Court as adults with attempted first-degree intentional homicide. If convicted they each face up to 65 years in prison.
Geyser's family members broke into tears several times during her appearance.

‘The family is very horrified at what has happened,’ attorney Donna Kuchler said.
According to the LA Times, Waukesha police chief Russell P Jack said the case should act as a stark example of why parents should closely monitor their children's internet use.
"This should be a wake-up call for all parents," Russell P. Jack, Waukesha's police chief, said in a statement Monday. "Parents are strongly encouraged to restrict and monitor their children's Internet usage."
Waukesha County District Attorney Brad Schimel stressed the girls were innocent until proven guilty, but added he has never come across allegations like this in his time as a prosecutor.
He said: 'Most of the time in a crime like this, with such violence like this, there's spur of the moment, there's the heat of passion'
‘It's troubling when a person lashes out in anger,’ he said. ‘It's more troubling when they lash out in cold blood. Isn't that the worst kind of killer, the cold-blooded killer?’
Schimel, a Republican running for state attorney general, said he had to bring the case in adult court because of the severity of charges against the girls. He said he expected the girls' attorneys to attempt to ‘reverse waive’ them into juvenile court, but that he would resist.
If moved into juvenile court and convicted, the girls could be held at most until they were 25 years old, Schimel said.
‘It's a very shocking incident. There's no two ways about it,’ He added.
STATEMENT FROM CREEPYPASTA: 'SOMETHING ELSE HAS TO BE GOING ON THERE' FOR THE GIRLS TO JUMP FROM FANS TO ATTEMPTED MURDERERS
First and most importantly, my condolences go out to all the families involved. I cannot even imagine how painful and confusing and awful this has to be for them. I don’t have children, but I can imagine how my mother would feel if something like this happened to me, and it absolutely breaks my heart to even consider her having to go through that. The families of the young ladies who committed this crime also have my heart going out to them – I know this can’t be easy for them as well, and I’m sure they’ll have to deal with mistargeted backlash and anger even while they try to get through such a trying time themselves. So when I say that I extend my deepest sympathies and my prayers to those affected, I hope that you understand that I mean it. I know that words can seem hollow or come off as mere lip-service to the cynical, but it’s the truth.
Of course, the next thing I want to talk about is this site and the creepypasta phenomenon at large as I’m sure that many people are here because they want to know precisely what is being blamed for this event....
In this specific scenario, I’ll be honest: I have tried to keep Slenderman stories limited here. I’m aware that he and Jeff the Killer have become absurdly popular recently, with fans expanding upon their origins (in Slenderman’s case, he was created on the SomethingAwful web forums many years ago in an attempt to cooperatively create new folklore – an experiment that has apparently been quite successful). Stories about Slenderman and his proxies are not the central focus of this website. I am not intimately familiar with all the various additions and expansions to his “legend” that have cropped up all over the internet – to be frank, I did not find him particularly interesting and as such I’m really not going to be very helpful with explaining the details of his popularity and stories to all the people who most certainly have questions....
But if I may be so bold, I don’t believe that it’s the fault of Slenderman or horror writing in general that this happened. I remember reading scary stories and watching slasher movies when I was a child and young teenager and while they certainly gave me nightmares, they did not instill within me a desire to murder my friends. For someone to make the jump from reading a creepy story that is – at least on this website, once again, I can’t speak for all creepypasta websites – being presented as 100% fiction into actually using it as a motive to plot and murder another human being – something else has to be going on there.
We live in a culture with a very unhealthy relationship with mental illness. People with mental health issues are frequently dismissed (people who deal with anxiety, depression, etc have almost certainly experienced people telling them that their problems don’t exist and that they should “bootstrap” and just “get over it”), shamed and bullied (consider Miley Cyrus’ tweets where she mocked Sinead O’Conner for acknowledging her own struggle with mental illness and asking for help), and often ignored or denied necessary treatment because people either choose to look the other way when they see symptoms or their attempts to help are met with resistance because the sufferer has internalized all the negative cultural messages about having and admitting to mental illness.
Most kids love creepy shit, doesn't mean they're murderers-in-waiting. Nice beat up from the Fail.
"You're going to die tomorrow, Lord Bolton. Sleep well."
I don't think the father's interest in heavy metal or gore is relevant. While I don't doubt that he probably encouraged his daughter's interest in the supernatural/horror stories, it doesn't mean he realized the extent of her obession. Her parents seem a little quirky and they probably thought that's all it was with their daughter. That article reminds me of all the post-Columbine attacks on music and movies. Not everyone who listens to loud music and likes skeletons and graveyards is going to grow up into a cold-blooded killer. While a killer might be fascinated by those things too, I don't think the fascination creates that.
I don't really know what to think about this story. It's awful and heartbreaking, but mostly scary. My kids are so young and at least as far as I can tell (not sure what they're like in front of their friends), they seem very naive. I wouldn't say we shelter them, but as someone who stopped believing in Santa and fairytales at a young age, I think I try really hard to preserve those kind of childlike fantasies. My nine year old came home the other day and told me she learned the "S curse word" from a classmate's older brother, only to reveal she thought it was "sexy." What scares me about this story is if these girls were just naive and immature and no mental illness is at play, then might parents (like myself) be doing more harm than good by indulging the make believe stuff? My kids aren't into blood and gore, but they all believe in Santa and his friends, as do their friends. It makes me wonder if any of their schoolmates are into this stuff, could that kind of innocence be dangerous? I'm pretty sure my own kids would probably just ask me before slaughtering their friend in sacrifice, but still. I've been thinking about this story all day.

I just can't believe that I've gotten that old that people younger than me are parents to kids like this.

the whole article is stupid and typical daily fail sensationalism, but publishing photos of the girls and their family is pretty fucked up. so the DM is outraged because another publication showed photos of kate's ass, but they're totally fine with releasing family photos of 12-year-olds including their real names? and don't even get me started on the whole "kids/teens being tried as adults".

The 12-Year-Old Girls Accused of the Slender Man Stabbing to Appear in Court
Two 12-year-old girls accused of stabbing their 12-year-old friend 19 times in the name of Slender Man, an online fictional character, are expected to appear in a Wisconsin courtroom Wednesday.
In response, the survivor's family released a statement.
"Our family fully supports the District Attorney’s Office in their prosecution of this case. However, our daughter and our entire family continue to focus on both her physical and emotional healing," it states.
"She continues to amaze us in her ability to persevere and move forward – taking one day at a time. Much of our strength comes from knowing that there is so much 'good' coming from so many people, and we continue to witness this firsthand from the compassion given to our little girl from around the world."
On May 31, Morgan Geyser and Anisa Weier allegedly walked into the woods near their Waukesha, Wisconsin, home with their friend, whose identity has been protected, after a sleepover. Hours later, the pair were charged as adults for attempted murder. Their bond has been set at $500,000 each.
According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the girls' attorneys are expected to bring up the issue whether they could knowingly waive their rights against self-incrimination. Their lawyers also continue to pursue moving the girls' case into juvenile court.
Meanwhile, the unidentified girl continues to heal at home and thanks the public for its continued support on the family's Facebook page.

i just can't with the US charging 12 year-olds as adults. i'm not saying let them go or anything but they're 12. if they were victims of sexual abuse everyone would be up in arms about how they're innocent little children but then that same kid does something awful and suddenly they want to throw the book at them and pretend they have the maturity and mental understanding of an adult. fucking ridiculous.
I'm open to everything. When you start to criticise the times you live in, your time is over. - Karl Lagerfeld
The juvenile justice system is broken in the US. These girls shouldn't be tried as adults at the age of 12. Although, there needs to be some serious intervention, therapy, some form of punishment, etc., but at 12, the child also needs a chance to be rehabilitated. You can't lock up a 12 year old for life and let them out at 50. What good is that going to do? You're going to end up with a 50 year old that can't function in society.
The whole thing is sad.
Slender Man Stabbing Suspect Ruled Incompetent to Stand Trial
One of the two girls accused of stabbing their friend 19 times was declared not competent to stand trial after being evaluated by two doctors, according to a report discussed during a hearing earlier this week.
A judge ordered an examination of whether "mental disease or defect" will be an issue in the trial of Morgan Geyser, one of two 12-year-old girls charged as an adult for attempted homicide, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Geyser and Anisa Weier, 12, are accused of stabbing their friend in a wooded area near their Waukesha, Wisconsin, home on May 31. Geyser and Weier told police they stabbed their friend in homage to Slender Man, a fictional character on the Internet.
The survivor, whose family has asked that her identity not be revealed, continues to heal at her home. In a statement, her family says, "Our daughter and our entire family continue to focus on both her physical and emotional healing. She continues to amaze us in her ability to persevere and move forward – taking one day at a time."
For now, Weier's competency has not been evaluated. The girls will return to Waukesha County Court on Aug. 1.
