Mercy, A*0-I am afraid to ask, but how much do hardbacks cost?

I love Amazon (and my Kindle), too. They have great customer service. I pre-ordered a Kindle book, it was a new release and it was $10. Long story short, the day the book came out it wasn't actually going to be ready for the Kindle. So, they shipped me a hardcover for the same price on the release date and let me download it to my Kindle once it was released.

On a side note, my techie BF got the iPad and I'm able to read all of my Kindle books on the iPad. I have to say, I do like the fact that you can read the iPad at night while in bed.

My Nook has a cool clip on light for bedtime reading. I know the kindle does too, a couple versions I think. I bought a kindle as a gift for someone recently & got a cover for it as well as a light.

Do y'all keep covers on your kindle? I like to take my nook everywhere with me, and love the cover because I don't have to worry about the screen getting scratched. Plus, it kinda sorta makes it feel more like a regular book.

I keep a cover on mine. I have the first gen Kindle and they used to come with covers. The only thing that sucks is finding a nice, replacement cover for it. All the covers are for the new generation.

I keep a cover on mine too, I have too much in my purse that could scratch it without the cover. I just upgraded my cover to one that closes with a magnet instead of just flapping open too. Stuff used to get in there all the time before.

I found something rather funny today on the train as I got off. On the left side of the seat all the way at the window sat a man with an iPad just messing around with the touch controls. Sitting next to him was a lady with a Kindle. I dont know why but I just found it funny.

Anyone have the Kindle app on their phone or iTouch and the actual Kindle? Hows that working out? Which one is better?

I have Aldiko on my Droid as well. On my iTouch theres Stanza but I think both are amazing apps. Kindle is on both of them as well and while I like it I honestly dont think it comes anywhere near touching those prior mentioned apps.

Books are mucho expensive here partly because of copyright crap, the exchange rate, etc but mainly because our General Sales Tax (10%) applies while in other countries books are exempt. A hardback will cost you at least AU$50, usually much more. Thank God Melbourne now has a Costco where you can get books at a great price but of course it all depends on what came in the last shipment from overseas.

I love my Kindle! My bf gave it to me for Christmas: the souped up, newest version with 3G and Wifi. He also got me a great cover with light built in. It's fantastic! I love it so much.

some friends ordered it because books are ridiculously expensive in chile and english or other international books even more so. it is a nifty little gadget but i'm like witchcurl, i just can't embrace the electronic reader trend, i need the actual, physical book.
