Getting rid of Skype
I loaded Skype onto my computer at the request of my publisher, but we've never needed it as we relied on other methods to communicate.
The problem: I now cannot see any phone numbers that I Google. Just now I had to Google Goodwill and then couldn't get the local number because the Skpe format of all phone numbers hides 3/4 of the number. Then I have to dig out the phone book or make a call to another number to get the number that's *right there* but hidden.
In other words, as long as Skype is on my computer, I am not using it, but I am doing double work for every time I need a number, which used to be so simple to look up through Google.
How do I get Skype off my computer? Please give directions like you're talking to a 3d grader who's new to computers.

Gak! I'm having exactly the same problem after installing Skype (which I have never used). I want to un-install it as well.
The way I'm getting around the problem right now on my home computer which has three user logins, is to use one of the logins on which Skype wasn't installed.
Right now I hate Skype!
The easiest way is to use a program called SkypeKiller. It's free and you can get it here

I have no idea why Skype made it so hard to manually uninstall it from a PC but they did

Well, I think I got rid of Skype, not sure if it was the Skypekiller download or going into the computer control panel and deleting it. I did both.
But I did turn up this suggestion up on a website when I googled for the disappearing phone number problem: "I found the problem!! Go into Internet explorer, Tools, Manage add ons, and disable the Skype add-on there. WAAA LAAAA all your numbers re-appear!"
It may be a better alternative to disabling Skype.

Skype came loaded with my budget laptop. Haven't used it but we'll see how it goes.
lol does skype even make any money for its inventors?
Finally got it off. Thank goodness.
I can just plug in my mic and use an IM program without all the hassle.
