Charging an iPod
Is there a gizmo that allows you to charge an iPod without using a puter? Can you get a charger that plugs into the car ciggie lighter socket? If not, I spy a fantastic business opportunity (if Apple will let you).

Re: Charging an iPod
Fantastic - I will go and get one. Our forthcoming 'happy family camping trip' just might be tolerable after all. Thanks!

How much did you pay for it? and how long does it take to charge? it takes about 1 hour to charge on the computer.

Re: Charging an iPod
I have a question, for Christmas, my hubby got me a wireless radio tuner and a funky do charger for the car. When we used it in the house, it was getting static, when we used it in the car, we got static. Does anyone else have one of those things? I don't know if I should hang on to it, or exchange it for another brand. I was looking at getting one of the chargers that holds it while it's plugged into the cigarette lighter and then just using a tape adapter, but he wanted me "wireless". Any ideas?

Re: Charging an iPod
Don't know about the staticky thing, but iPod also has a charger that you can connect to the wall as well. It's $40, so I figure I'll just save me the money and use my laptop to charge it instead.

Re: Charging an iPod
ive found that if you try to charge an ipod through the firewire into your puter, you dont get the full battery charge for some reason. I plug mine into the wall once im done updating it, seems to keep a bigger charge for some reason.

I got one of those for Christmas too. So far I have found it is all on the radio station you use. If you can find the station the is nothing but static, the tuner works better. If you use a station where sometimes music comes through then there is more static. I don't know what brand you have, but mine is a Memorex and so far so good.

Re: Charging an iPod
It will be interesting to see how quickly my iPod Mini - now obsolete? - and my son's iPod ordinary charge on the car charger. They both seem to take HOURS via the puter.

Re: Charging an iPod
iPods have tonnes of charging solutions.
I have a direct link to my car stereo that also charges it.
I got a wall charger that uses the USB cable and has clip on adapters for all countries.
There are also cigarette lighter chargers for the car.
price will range from $20-$50

Re: Charging an iPod
I got one of the ciggie lighter car chargers and it's rubbish. It's too bulky to fit into the lighter thingy properly (they tend to be hidden away in tight corners now people don't smoke as much) and on rough road surfaces it keeps falling out.
