    Default Recent Windows update sucks

Two days ago, I downloaded my updates.

Next time the computer booted up and they became effective, no 'net.

Somehow the update doesn't play well with XP and ZoneAlarm, my firewall.

Here's the problem: MS DNS patch snuffs net connection for ZoneAlarm users | Channel Register

Yesterday I went in and removed the certain update from my computer as the ZA site instructed. Then I turned on ZA and the 'net was fine.

Last night, I left my computer on and went to bed. During the night, it had rebooted itself. I tried to access the 'net. Nothing.

I'm here by turning off my ZA, but not having a firewall feels like going without a condom.

    What do I do?

Not sure.. my friend installed it, and all of a sudden windows didnt want to play with his network.. he tried to push it, andf then the mouse/keyboard stopped working.

he had to go uninstall the update.. dunno how he did that.

Lesson learned: downgrade to XP as soon as possible.

This very same thing happened to me yesterday. It was extremely annoying. I had to uninstall Zone Alarm and then download and install the latest version. It seems to be working fine now. *knocks on wood*

Thanks, folks. I'll try the uninstall and download the new version. Ugh.

That part I did - or thought I did. The pop-up said "removed." And then wonk city. It should have been fine after the uninstall, but . . . yay Microsoft.

    Microsoft, I HATE YOU TODAY.

When I go into ZA, it says Internet is unlocked. What does it mean to have the net locked or unlocked on ZA?

My gtalk is inaccessible now. What tab in ZA do I use to teach ZA to let gtalk work?
