Default Gameboy to Gamecube hookup - how?

I hope this is the correct place to post this! My apologies if not.

Anyone know how to hook up a Gameboy Advance SP to a GameCube? I've got the cable, got them both plugged in and ... nothing. I got the gamecube just so my mom could play her gameboy games on the TV (and actually see what she was playing!) and am disappointed that I haven't been able to make it happen.

I've gone through the directions multiple times, everything's there it calls for. Have surfed the web and haven't found any specific answers.

    Can anyone help?

Thanks. It was correctly connected. Called GameCube and was informed that it only works with certain games (none of the games we have of course) and in order for it to work with any GameBoy game it requires the GameBoy Player - which Nintendo no longer manufactures. I'm furious. All the packaging, even the instructions within newer gameboy games and the gamecube itself show only that a connector cable is needed and voila!

Maybe you can sell the stuff you cannot use on Ebay... there, there's always someone who wants to buy... good luck!
