Any suggestions for an IPad speaker system?

My oldest daughter is wanting a dock/speaker system for her IPad, for Christmas this year. I have googled several models, but most seem cheap or way over the top at $350-$500, or more. I want a good qualitity sound system she can use at home to listen to her music, but not the top of the line that will break my wallet. Anyone have a good unit they like to use?

I don't have an iPad but I have an iPod dock which was about $100 (Australian) and is a really good sound for the reasonably small space I use it in. My friend has a Bose iPod dock which cost more but the sound is amazing. Don't know anything about iPads sorry.

While not a docking station I love my Bose SoundLink Wireless Portable Speaker and it's compatible with iPad, iPod, iPhone and any other Bluetooth music device, but they do run just under $300. Bose also sells a SoundDock® digital music system (on sale now for $179.95 on Bose website), for it to work with iPad you need to get the dock station extenders cord from apple or do a google search for a 30 pin male to female adapter cord. I tried a few cheap offbrand speakers and none compare to the quality you will get with Bose.

Thanks for the help. I have heard the Bose and they are wonderful. I don't want to spend quite that much money, I was just needing another gift to finish her Christmas out. I did find an offbrand unit and she can try it. She lives in a small apartment now and just wanted something to play her muisc on while home, that is louder than the IPad speakers. So hopefully it will be fine. Thanks again!

Bose is a great brand... I have a dock for my iPod that we bought 5 or so years ago and it still works great.
