Default Question about a wireless router

I need help with a question. Last week, I bought a wireless router (its a Linksys from Cisco). it was just THE biggest pain in the ass to hook up, so i returned it and just said I'd deal with it later. I was able to get it all set up, meaning, I named it as my wireless etc, but just couldn't get it to work with my laptop.

So, after returning the wireless router to walmart, i get home, and my daughter says that she's able to connect her Ipod to My Wifi! It shows my name, and it works fine. The damned thing isn't in my house anymore, and I just can't figure out why.

    anyone?

I think you were able to access someone else's unsecured wifi and rename it lol

I am at a loss with this one.

You might have created an ad hoc network without meaning to or something like that. And it took me a really long time to even think of that! Wow!

    That is all I got.

See! Right there is your first error.....

my guess too is that since when you log on with admin rights its the same ip & user name etc, so maybe the issue was that you were piggybacking the wrong wifi signal???
