Horrifying. Cell phone makers need to come up with some kind of software protection for to combat this.

OMG. My cell is bugged! I knew there was some wierd shit going on with it, but everytime I would try to explain to others about it, they thought I was crazy. My son's father took my phone for a day after we got into an argument. After that, he somehow knew where I was all the time, and who I had been talking to. WOW that is scary and crazy. I wonder how do I get rid of it?

he installed google latitude in it, it's basically phone GPS and anybody you allow to watch can see where you are.

Go into your applications and see if you can find it, or something like it

Well, I've changed phones since then, but I still have the same SIM card. My "new" phone is an old skool nokia flip. I'm not sure if this phone has any apps that I could look through.

^^ I would suggest that the software is installed on the chip on the sim, so contact your provider - tell them of the problem & request s new sim...
They may ask you to send the sim to them (or they may not... depending on their security systems).
However, since I have vague recollections that your childs father isn't nice to you sometimes (have I got the right person?), I'd really recommend that you do this & don't lend him your phone again.

Dumb question, but does someone need access to your actual phone to be able to install this spyware, or do they just need your phone number? Because if they only need your phone number, I'm scared - otherwise I never let my phone out of my sight.

from the video they look to be downloading it on the the actual phone but the google location thing apparently eogks with just the number.
That's why I think the previous poster needs a new sim, because the sim is just a compute chip with mobile-telephoney software loaded ontoit.

I have yet to try it out on UK phones but if it works it could well be breaking the data protection act which is what protects us as individuals...

Thanks for the info. I will contact my provider and see if there's something on my phone. Yeah, you're right. He's the asshole I have posted about before lol.

For the record, he stole my phone because he was jealous I had a new boyfriend. He didn't want me to talk to him anymore, so I think he put something on my phone. All the sudden, I was getting calls from my OWN phone #! He was also able to call me from various friend's/ family member's phone numbers. It was so wierd.
