The show is Larry King Live; guesting for Larry is Joan Rivers.
The subject is "Surviving Suicide." Guests include Art Linkletter,
Melissa Rivers and Mariel Hemingway (whose family is in the Hall
of Fame). Some other broad, a "psychiatrist," is on the show too.
Joan's face is frozen with botox; even her
jowls have been
so pumped full of botox that they don't move. There is so
much botox pumped into her eye sockets (to eliminate crow's feet)
that she looks like she's wearing a mask glued to her face
(a la Jeff Goldblum in
The Fly).
Mariel Hemingway is still in the habit of moving her eyebrows
periodically when she talks, and you can see the eyebrows
straaaaaaaaining to lift the botox under her skin.
Her face is more square and boxy than her father's;
it's impossible to believe she was a model at one point.
This is the price we pay for trophy wives -- women so afraid
of getting wrinkles that they're going to be recognizable
fifty years after they've died.
