Just started reading The Girl who Walked Home Alone by Charlotte Chandler. It is a personal biography of Bette Davis.

Galveston Bay by Sally Antrobus, tells of the island's history and historical places to visit. Very interesting.

Just started both "Ocean Star" by Christina Di Mari and "Queen Margot" by Alexandre Dumas. I feel like a combo of classics and trashy summer novels right now, tired of reading serious historical books, tomes of head shrinking and Xian study guides. I have to let my brain rest for awhile.

I just finished all my novels for class. I might move on to Oryx and Crake by Maragaret Atwood (by SVZ's recommendation), or I might give Son of a Witch by Gregory Maguire (sequel to Wicked) another shot. I couldn't get into it the first time. It's summer, I'll probably read some trashy crap in my free time

I liked Wicked as a story, but I'm a big Wizard of Oz fan. Most people I know that had issues with it didn't like that it was so political.

I just can't get into Son of a Witch though, I've tried a few times already.

Thanks Merri for putting up a link to both books. Look interesting, I'll have to chase them down at the library.

^^Me too. I own it, but I haven't started yet.

Now, I'm reading "The Canadian Regime: An Introduction to Parliamentary Government in Canada" by Patrick Malcolmson and Richard Myers. Fascinating stuff, really!

Yay summer courses. Haha.

The Kite Runner may be my favo book of the year. it's really really really lovely. gruesome, to be sure, but lyrical, true and beautifully written.

I unexpectedly found "Wicked" to be pretty entertaining. "Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister", too. I started reading "Mirror, Mirror" and just couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll give it another chance.

Right now I'm reading an oldy, "The Clan of the Cave Bear". So far, so good.

My favorites, though, are Rand novels. Especially "The Fountainhead". I also love Steinbeck, but his stuff tends to be depressing, so I have to be in just the right mood to read it.

Ooooh...I just heard about this...worth buying, then, eh? I'm reading Dear Boy about Keith Moon and it is fabulous...just really well written and interesting, especially if you're a music fan of any stripe.
