Oddly enough my instructor just mentioned this a week ago. It sounded rather interesting even though Im not in the least bit familiar with the writer or his novels.

paul auster is awesome, you should definitely give him a try. he's had a few misses but then what writer hasn't?
did you ever watch the film 'smoke'? with harvey keitel and william hurt. about a neighbourhood smoke shop? that's written by auster.

i would recommend you start with either 'moon palace', 'leviathan', 'the music of chance' or the new york trilogy ('city of glass', 'ghosts' and 'the locked room')

I'm still reading Blonde. I think I'm about 5 months into it, for some reason I just stopped reading it all summer and just remembered I hadn't finished it. It doesn't help that someone lent me Hunger Games almost 2 months ago and I don't want to start it until I finish Blonde. Shame is, I'm totally loving the book. Just can't get around to reading it.

I saw "Wonderful Tonight" by Pattie Boyd mentioned in another thread, so I checked it out. She's quite blase about their drug use, saying they didn't do anything "hard" but listed cocaine as something they frequented. Umm, maybe I'm a prude, but that seems like hard drugs to me. Also, seems like she was screwed over in both of her divorces and should have gotten much more from both husbands.

How to Raise a Non-violent Child by Dr. John Rosemond. It's fascinating reading. Just finished to chapter that addresses the Columbine shooters. What is said is that the two killers were not angry at being picked on and isolated from the main student population but actually were a part of several groups and were very active in school activities. They suffered from not low self esteem but the very opposite.

So long long long ago my friend and I tore through the Last Vampire books by Christopher Pike. I thought the series was over and then my friend emails me "OMG, did you know there's a new Sita book?!?!?!?" No! How can that be!?!?!?!? Anyway, I just got the email from the library that it's available. I don't know if I'll be disappointed since it's a continuation of books I loved about 16 years ago or so.

^ I remember reading those in high school so many years ago. I think I read maybe four of them and AFAIK that was all there was. Only recently I found out theres about nine of them. She has a daughter now and everything. Im wary to pick them up from where I left off or even start them again. They were alright but definitely not worth a re-read. However, at the same time, the new ones might be very good. Who knows?
