How about Poppy Z. Brite? Try Lost Souls.

Bingo. That's when she also started denouncing her vampire books. What a moron.

She recently stated that there was another Lestat book but it will be Christian theme- but thank God she changed her mind about the whole idea. I loved the first 5books of the vampire chronicles but it went on a weird tangent afterwards especially when she found religion. She had an amazing rant on amazon about why she denounced the vampire series .

Totally agree with most of ya, that the books are quite good but totally over-rated, more just a bit of fun than anything else. Such a shame she turned into a religious fruit, but there are total religious overtones throughout all of the books, I've read all but two of the vampire ones and they're a study of religion and morality that get more and more in-depth as you go along. I loved the one about Marius's history, he's always been my favourite. Lestat is entirely over-dramatic and a pain in the ass. I'd have dusted him ages ago if it were me!

I read the first two sleeping beauty books but never got around to the third, it's a little bit um... BDSM for my tastes but a fun read none the less.
