Why do people hate The Redheaded One? Ron is just this nice guy who is struggling to keep up, while trying to bang the girl he won't even admit he even likes. Sounds like half the people I know.

i don't hate him. he's harmless. he just annoyed me in the last few books and there are lots of other characters i like more and that i really don't want to see killed off.

and aella (and soth, yes she is a dirty little person) the idea of erotic harry potter fanfic creeps me out a little. but it's also fascinating that people take their harry so seriously that they have all these sex fantasies about it.

And sputnik, you know that if you ever feel like needing a new brain scrub, there's more links where that came from.
On the topic of fanfic, it's not necessarily about taking Harry Potter seriously. Sure, there's a minority that do, but most people dabbling in fanfic/fanart are just in it for the fun. Subversive readings of text are nothing new, and while I realise people can find fanfic related to Harry Potter creepy because of the children's book aspect, it's a kind of 'you have to be in it to get it' deal.
Most of it have the characters aged up, and a lot of it focuses on the adult characters of the books anyway (forget the brats, it's all about Snape for me!).
