Thanks. This one is definitely slower, maybe because I know all the mistakes I made the last time and during re-writes matured little. This current book is like dipping into the water but the characters are not treading yet. Maybe it's not fleshed out but I know where I'm going and the journey to the end. I think the problem is, I'm wanting the layers and depth of the characters now instead of just getting the basic storyline down on paper. Perhaps I should just focus on the storyline and not worry about the psychological depth so early on...Okay, next few hours I'm taking a break from here and let's see if tomorrow I can post with some success. Have you have checked out absolute writer's cooler? That's a interesting place that has some helpful info but still they would probably say the same thing. Stop whining and write. But actually in truth, talking about this I think did help so thank you.

No problem. It's always good to talk to other writers.
And I haven't checked out that site, but I will. Thanks for the heads-up.

Pssst...I've started a new writing schedule. I drop the heathens at school, go for my morning walk, grab a coffee and then sit down by 10.30 and write until 12.30. Half hour for lunch and then back to writing until 2.30, then off to pick up heathens. The good news? I've finished the first short story I've been proud of in years. It's short short but I really like what I did with it and feel bloody fantastic. It is all about just putting your nose to the grind-stone. Damn, I almost forgot that feeling of accomplishment you get when you re-write and re-write and re-write and finally....BINGO!

Good for you, Butt. I've been focusing on the parts of my script that I have to rewrite, still haven't done the rewrites yet. Too busy printing out resumes.

Second little thingy almost done. I'm on some sort of roll. I think the boredom has finally pushed me over the edge. God, I feel great right now.

Yeah, the boredom is getting to me, too. I need to find another job, but I can fill some of that free time writing.

Boredom is a great motivator. I tell the heathens this every time they moan.

I think your schedule sounds great Buttmunch! I find that when I have a To Do List with scheduled breaks (very important), it makes it much easier for me to sit down and write, clean and do all the other things I need to do during the day.

These are some really good tips and advice and I am going to get my lazy butt in gear and follow!! I have been far too silent this summer on far too many writing projects! After I read the pile of books I just bought online for helping writers...got to read to write I suppose...

Just read a great saying: the only way to do something is to go ahead and do it. Great advice for writers since we are masters of procrastination and we know the only way to get things done is to just sit there and work, work, work. Why do we do it again?

^^ We do it because we lobe to do it. I wouldnt care if a damned bit of it ever makes it to print, I just love writting and would be miserble if I couldnt do it. I would rather never watch tv again than give up writting.
Sigh. You're right Butt. No more procrastination.

Same here. I do love it, although it drives me mad.

Same here, Butt. Writing can drive me crazy sometimes, but I don't see myself ever giving it up.

Nah, never give it up, if only for those rare 'eureka' moments.

Yup. Or the moments when you look at the finished product and it turned out just like you thought it would or better.
