I assume you finished the book, so did you like it?

I read Lucky and The Lovely Bones. Most people here would disagree, but I actually enjoyed it. There's something plain about her writing, but it pulled me in and felt real. I was going to read her new one, but everyone panned it, so I figured I'd wait. I suspect she's one of those writers that overestimates her own abilities when it comes to storytelling and her knowledge of human nature.

Well, it was weird and sort of depressing. On the plus side, it was engaging and held my attention. I'd give it a C+.

I'm halfway through the book but am having trouble staying focused. Does it get better towards the end?

I liked Lucky a lot and Lovely Bones I could get through easily.. but this one..I just don't know?

No, it doesn't get better. There is the same tone throughout the book. She kills her mother and the only mystery is whether or not she'll get away with it. The rest of the book is just her ruminations about her personal relationships.

What's up with this author, is she on anti-depressants or something?

I've read all her books, including the spanish one and I think she's a pretty good writer. She's a little strange and very blunt about what her characters say but that's what makes her different and her writing interesting.

depends what you're into i guess =P
