Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling has written a prequel to her series of best-selling books - unraveling the story before her first novel Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone, which was released in 1997.
The Potter prequel comes almost a year after Rowling published the seventh and final installment of the story, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which was released last year.
However fans of the boy wizard franchise will be disappointed to learn the new tale is not set for publication, it will instead be sold at auction next month to raise money for charity.

i can't believe she wouldn't put this out to be published.. she could donate all the procedes to charity if that's what she wanted it to go for.. i would LOVE to read a prequel though
Wasn't this the little card thingie she did for Borders that was just a scene between Sirius and James rather than a full-blown prequel book?
I smile because I have no idea what's going on
That could come later. Look at the Bard/Beetle book (sorry can't remember the exact name). She made one for charity, Amazon bought it, made it available for free on their website. And now it's being published so everyone can own a copy. Two versions of course. The $100 limited edition (that I'm so enviously staring at because it looks cool, not really interested in the story inside), and the $7 version for everyone else.
So if it's true we can hang out hope that same thing will happen.
