No thanks. I had to translate an excerpt when applying for a translation job, and the urge to poke my eyes out was strong.

I enjoyed them a lot of a pre-teen and a few of the better authors as a teen. Now I find myself too bitter, lol. I do have one or two favorites I read every few years..."Whitney, My Love"(I think Judith McNaught) One by Nora Roberts that I forget the name of, but its a western, and a book by a historian, Justina Burgess ""Winds of Eden" which is awesome but now out of print. If you can find a copy, its one of the best romance novels EVAR

The only ones I have ever read are books by Betty Neels. I read one of her books when I was younger and have been reading them ever since although I've never met anyone else who has read anything from her.

I have so many.. Diana Gabaldon, Sandra Brown, Nora, Jude, Maggie Shayne, I love vampire novels just started getting into Kim Harrison, I LOVE LAURELL K HAMILTON.. Janet Evanovich, I also love young adult stuff. Lois Duncan is great. simple escapist stuff. Marilyn Keyes, I think that is her first name she wrote Watermelon, and some other really funny stuff. I know this was about romance but all these have romance in them.

see um, Janet Daily, Heather Graham, I worked in a used bookstore for years and there are so many that are really good. I love historical, time travel, supernatural, contemporary, all of them. I am a romantic at heart.

Now, don't touch em.

I love Diana Gabaldon! I waited for 2 hours to get one of my first editions signed. Pathetic, I know. I wish the woman would hurry up and right the rest of the books, I'm afraid she will die somehow before the story is finished.
Aside from her I tend to stick to historical romance novels. Authors like Kathryn lynn Davis, Kathleen Woodiwiss, Johanna Lindsey, etc.

is it bad that for some reason I can't stand the writing style of women authors when it comes to fantasy, sci-fi, etc?

It's all so frigging touchy feely

I often have this problem as well. Even the ones I like...Marion Zimmer Bradly, Ursula Leguin, Anne Mcaffrey...they have one or two good books and the rest I want to just SMACK them and say "GET OVER IT"

Female writers do have a tendency to write as if everyone wants to know what EVERY CHARACTER is feeling ALL the time.

I love the JD Robb books, anything by Patricia Briggs- her Mercedes Thompson books are fantastic and Ilona Andrews, Kim Harrison and Charlaine Harris- I am on a urban Fantasy binge. But you think those covers are bad - check this one out- I think Grim will definitely appreciate snarking on this one
